I have been watching Discovery channel since my childhood.
This is one of the channel I watch apart from news channels. I must say it is one of the source from where I usually get some knowledge. You can enjoy the things while watching the Discovery channel which you cannot enjoy in your daily life such as wild animals, how industries works, how products are manufactured and engineered. I usually like to watch their shows such as Man Vs Wild, Food factory, What happened next, etc. The similar TV channel that compete with discovery is obviously National geographic channel. There is nothing to dislike in Discovery channel because every show they telecast gives you knowledge about how the things works. The alternate channels which I watch apart from Discovery is NGC, Discovery Science and History TV, etc. Thank you!
