Dill Mill Gayye(formerly Dil Mil Gaye) revolves around 5 interners who join Sanjeevani Hospital in Mumbai-Armaan, Riddhima, Anjali, Atul and Sapna. It is the story of their struggles as they make friendships in the competitive environment  at the hospital. Anjali and Riddhima are daughters of the dean of the hospital, Dr Shashank Gupta. Dill Mill Gayye(DMG) is Sanjivani relaunched with a fresh cast and new story, with only Dr. Gupta returning.

DMG is also a love story between doctors Armaan and Riddhima. The best thing to watch out for is the chemistry between the two. Armaan, the dashing, affluent, flirtatious, mischievious and easy-go type found a perfect target for his never-ending pranks in the ever caring, friendly, sensitive, yet straight-forward, wanna-be doctor Riddhima. He wouldn't have played so many tricks on her if she hadn't become so bugged with them. But they are also two very charming characters, so Armaan soon realises that he has fallen for that(Basket! as he calls her) Riddhima. Only thing, no matter what each feels for the other, they always end up doing what they do best.Fight!

The other characters are also very endearing esp Atul with his environmental concerns(he rides a cycle, grows plants which he has given names, carries his own cup instead of the disposable ones, attends andholans for pollution control.) and has a particular knack for singing bollywood numbers that fit the situation; and eager-to-please Sapna who is always pestered by her mom to get married(to some Gujju boy named Jignesh atleast!) but has her own romantic ideas about marriage(she has this huge crush on a senior doctor, who probably is a already "booked"). Sophisticated Anjali has grey shades as she is very ambitious and insensitive(and most of the times selfish). The two sisters are portrayed as starkingly different.

DMG is definitely fun to watch. The comic situations in which the characters often find themselves in, esp Armaan are hilarious. The dialogues are worth memorising! I mean seriously, really good ones. Armaan gets to deliver some great lines and he does a neat job of delivering them too("Yo! Basket!" is just one among several) The lead pair compliments each other perfectly; Armaan(played by Karan Singh) is very good looking and adorable, so his(female) fans  are increasing by the day. Riddhima(played by Shilpa Anand) is very pretty, at times looking innocent and vulnerable, other times hot headed. Serious notes are lent in earnest with subplots like the head nurse with brain- tumour- at- final -stage being the actual mother of one of the dean's daughters and the emotional trauma of the patients with serious problems.

But I will not say that DMG is without faults. The director(or whoever) does seem to forget some simple things. like it's not exactly easy to find well cut tender coconuts when you're lost in the jungle. And that a wet basketball court slowly dries out with time, it does not alternate between dry and wet. In this 5 star hospital there seem to be more attendants and nurses than patients, doctors or visitors. The doctors(interns) seem to wear very colourful casuals as if they are out shopping or hanging out esp Armaan.(The seniors don't object?) And the ladies wear so high heels!(Impractical, isn't it?)The patients seem to have few or no visitors, even the ones with serious illnesses.(Blood cancer patient Mini who is a child doesn't have parents?)

If you can shut your eyes to these "mistakes", you will find DMG very much watchable. It is definitely the most enjoyable(and addictive!) serial on TV now I think. esp compared to India Calling(so boring!) or Kya Hoga Nimmo ka(Fun at first, but it really strayed from the inital plot and ended up as an utter dissapointment) I know I am hooked! I tune in every night at 8.30pm, and catch up with atleast one repeat!

PS: I know it's widely accepted that this show is enjoyed only by teenagers. I am no teenager. Guess you only have to be young at heart!

*FAST FORWARD TO FEB 2008

2 new interns from Sanjeevani Punjab have joined the team- **Dr. Rahul and Dr. Muskaan. While these 2 loath each other, Rahul and Armaan are also old rivals. Now Dr. Rahul is also Armaan's most hated person. Riddhima has finally confessed that she too loves Armaan, but they have kept their relationship a secret. That Sister Padma(the head nurse) is Riddima's actual mother is known and accepted by Riddhima's family and Armaan. Dr. Sapna got married to Amit, Armaan's friend, who had became her patient just to be close to her and is not being shown(probably has left the serial). Her former muse, senior Dr. Subhankar is now chasing Dr.Kirti, the very serious senior (nicknamed Hitler)  in charge of the interns. There is also romance budding between Dr. Shashank Gupta and the nurse Sister Padma. Atul has become totally  floored by Anjali, who has somehow become  very sweet now. Rahul is now the little villian of the show as he tries his best to create separations between the lead pair. Chatterbox Muskaan who coaxed Armaan to be pose as her boyfriend in front of her family has started developing feelings for him, and Rahul for Riddhima!
