It is always a ''Jumping with Joy'', situation whenever we get a movie ticket in Hyderabad's only Multiplex. My wife is a real movie freak just like me and we dont mind taking the tickets of whatever movie available (Provided we have not seen it earlier), although preferably we dont go for Telugu movies as that’s because of Language problem.
So, the moment I told her that I am getting the Tickets for ''Dil Jo Bhi Kahey'' 3rd Row from the screen, she gave me 4 good reasons right there within the first 30 seconds that WE'VE GOTTA WATCH THIS ONE''.
I dont know why but she wanted to see this movie for long since she's been watching the promos off late and she thinks that this guy is good, Kool - we got it - we took it - A surprise was waiting for us inside. Read on if you still want to know what this movie is all about.
About Story :Its a Typical Indian Family drama wherein the only new thing is the Hero is not in love with a Indian Gal but with a Mauritian Gal and that too Catholic. The Indian Family concerned is Big B as a Bihari from Chhapra, he works with a Bank in Mauritius, his wife (Revathy) is a house wife, does all pujas and stuff throughout the day seems, she is suffering from Asthma as well, His kid (The Hero) - Karan Sharma is doing his Hotel Management course.
Starts with a Typical Indian Movie Start - guy taking panga with a gal in his college (In Sweden) and than finally after 2 or 3 pranks falls in love with her, since love knows no barrier they too dont know and dont care who they are.
I was impressed with the Gal - being a Mauritian - without knowing any Hindi she was a fan of a Punjabi Singer - First panga starts with - who will have the last copy of the CD being sold by a music shop.
The Hero drives the most expensive cars, wears designer clothes, and sings a couple of songs, while doing their Hotel Management course.
Finally they both Graduate and leave for their respective homes in Mauritius where they belong to.
As one could have guessed right at the start that there families are not going to accept them, that’s what they do. They revolt with their respective families - this makes Big B loose his Job, his wife gets an heart attack lands in the hospital and than our hero realizes that his parents are too precious to loose for a mere Gal, so he decides to stay back and agree to do as they wish.
The Doctor who saves his mom is none other than our Bhumika Chawla (She is a beauty with a fundoo lower lip), Now the mom starts dreaming her as her bahu. They plan them to get married, everything goes well till the Doctor knows nothing about Karan's past, and there comes the rescuer in shape of Gaurav (Sidey Hero - I dont know the name) who tells her everything about his past and tells her to think before marrying him and things like that.
Last but not the least - Doctor - who starts seeing Karans dreams and actually starts loving him - gets engaged to him - saves them all by announcing that the Karan's Girl Friend is Pregnant and being Catholic they can't get rid of the child just like that as it is against their religion - finally after a lots of drama and rona dhona scenes later parents see no way out and get em married.
Saving Grace :Yeah you guessed it right, the only saving grace of the movie is Big B, as you might have read it in the papers or some reviews that He did this movie to oblige his long term friend Romesh Sharma, who was launching his Son (Karan Sharma) with this movie, he being producer / director of the movie, himself played a little character of Big B's friend in the movie.
From the very start till the End, Big B is what you can look forward to, his dances, his dialogues, his humor, his dress sense, the way he handles the problematic situations.
There are a log of Comic Situations in the movie, half of them being filmed on Big B. But still they leave you with more to expect and at some places you feel like you are watching a typical Kekta Kapoor TV serial.
Music and Background Score :Is something you will forget by the time you will come out of the Audi, even the background music goes hey wire in a couple of situations. None of the songs will leave a mark, Moreover I fail to understand the use of taking that Munna Bhai MBBS ''Dekh Le'' gal in here to do an item number cum Holi Song, wherein the screen presence is no more than 1 minute for her.
We have already seen a thousand Foreign Locations and this movie is not offering any new things - nothing so special about Mauritius or Sweden is shown.
The worst part of the movie according to me is the background translator - like BLACK - this movie too is 50% English and 50% Hindi and trust me - after every 4 - 5 dialogues this Background voice will translate the thing for you as what they are talking in English is we are unable to understand and it feels like I am watching a Period movie like ''Mangal Pandey'' or something.
Karan Sharma according to me fails to make a deep impression in this one as his onscreen dad is over shadowing him a lot; he looks like a Cross of Shah Rukh Khan, Aftab Shivdasani and Shahid Kapoor. Although he looks taller than Big B and does looks to be in sync with him in the songs.
The Foreign Gal is quite OK, even acting wise. Bhumika has got a small role but she does it pretty well, Chemistry between Revathy and Big B is worth watching. That’s where the movie is quite OK, must not be watched in a Theatre though - good for Pirated CD or may be sometime later it will come on Max or Zee.
On a personal note : During the first half an hour everything was alright, after that I cud see people talking and commenting, some started talking on mobile phones, even my wife was constantly checking on me, after one hour she lost her patience too - even from Shankar Ehsaan and Loy as none of the songs was that good either. By the time we walked out, she said ''Isse Achcha to Hum No Entry Dekh Lete''.
Watch out guys - I might come up with a ''No Entry'' review next week.
