There was a time when we use to wait for a Yash Raj film & use to run to a theater near by once the film was released to find theaters running to capacity crowd during the first few weeks.

The banner has produced quality products in the past but of late their products has either been below par or were just OK.

Their latest release Dil Bole Hadippa is a product that can please die hard YRF fans & can boast of fine reviews from the critics, but the real judge is the public & the verdict will be out soon.

Day 2, first show & less then 50 people in the theater in a BROADWAY theater in Vasai speaks volume about the expectations that the public had from this film. May be the makers too were not so sure about the success of the film therefore they created controversy of some hot scenes given by Rakhee Sawant & Sherlyn Chopra. Rakhee for a change was fully covered in clothes & Ms. Chopra was struggling to find some clothes. But none creates a stir while you watch this movie & obviously the controversy didn't assist the film in any way.

The film is about the dream of Rani Mukherjee who wants to play cricket & thinks if a woman is talented then she should be given the chance. She doesn't mind opening the innings with Sachin phaaji.

Anupam Kher from Amritsar & Dalip Tahil from Lahore has been conducting cricket tournament between their two teams every year, which the latter's team has won for the nine consecutive time. Both teams are shown walking in & out of Wagah border as if they are walking in a park.

Shahid Kapoor, separated from father & living with mother (Poonam Dhillon - nice to see her again) in London. Every County team wants him to play for them & Anupam Kher, his father wanted him to lead his team to victory.

He comes to India, forms a team (selection scenes poorly copied from Chak De India & badly executed). To make her dream come true, Rani disguises as a man & gets selected in the team.

The film is so predictable that you can walk out of the theater (few did) & come back later only to find that nothing much has happened.

To give happy ending to the film the writer (???) & director didn't disappoint us. When Rani gave her final speech the stadium (in the film) applauded & the 50 odd people in the theater laughed. The writing is so childish.

Punjabi background has always assisted a film to succeed in the past but it seems that some makers have taken the public for granted & this time it back fires badly.

Barring a few scenes none of the scenes leaves a mark. The logic of writers (sorry I have to use this word) - When Kiran Bedi can do it what males do, Sunita Williams can do it what males do, why can't she? Hmmm!. Writers (?) wake up. Good Morning. For your information & YRF's too - in India women too play cricket. Do you know who Anjum Chopra is? Oh! do you want females to be allowed to play with males in the same team? Nice dream. Keep dreaming.

The only positives about the film is the music from Pritam & performances.

Pritam did succeed in composing some fine dhol beats though the lyrics are very ordinary. No where close to the YR's past taste.

Performance wise, Anupam Kher has done good job.

Shahid Kapoor has developed a fantastic screen presence & has delivered a balanced performance. He looked good as a cricketer.

Rani Mukherjee has once again given a wonderful performance but unfortunately this film cannot be her come back vehicle.

In my opinion this sayappa from YRF is a big let down. But please feel free to watch it should you feel so.

Rating - 1.5 stars.
