Originality:

After Hum Tum, it's Dhoom. Dhoom is out in the market to create waves. Yash Chopra has this amazing power to attract everyone towards his films. Whatever is the star cast, whosoever is the director, movies under Yash Chopra banner cannot be left ignored. His movies are made of the stuff dreams are made. Lovey- dovey scenes, soppy love songs, exotic locations, et al. Some people consider such movies as kitsch but the ones who adore Yash Chopra style outnumber them.

Dhoom, by way of promos, doesn't seem like Yash Chopra type of movie. With its punch line ''Get off the ROAD!'' it sounds more of an action movie rather than a love-story. But music is definitely no exception to Yash Chopra style. Music of Dhoom has all the ingredients of a perfect Romantic Album. I chanced upon the title track in the promos and wanted to buy the CD to check out rest all the songs. And I tell u what I am not at all disappointed. :-)

The album consists of 7 tracks including 2 remixes. Here comes a brief analysis of all the numbers of this incumbent movie from Yash Chopra.

DHOOM MACHALE: The title track is as good as any other dance number with peppy music. Not sure about the choreography, though. Sunidhi Chauhan's voice makes it sound vibrant & lively. It's about 'Ishq', a ubiquitous word for a movie song or any song for that matter. This song implores us to fall in love. To quote DDLJ, ''Come.. Fall in Love.'' Love is Imperative for life, this is what this song exhibits.

''Tanha koi kabhi jee na sake

sabko yaha hai pata

bekhabar ajnabi

mere dil ne jo ki

tu bhi karle hansi wo khata

ishq mein har pal mazaa hai

ishq dhadkan ka nasha hai

ishq ki galiyon mein aake ghoom

dhoom machaale dhoom machaale dhoom''

DIL BOLE SHIKDUM: It's a lovely-lovely song. A cozy love-song with an aura of beautiful lyrics spilling out of the mouth of Shan & Shreya. Both the singers have done an innocuous job and they've lended this song a coochicoo touch.

''na satao tum yun muskurake

chum lo sanam bahoon mein aake

baaton hi baaton mein pal gujar na jaaye

aao ek duje main kho jaaye hum tum

dil bole shikdum shikdum''

DILBARA: It's a road-side song in mumbaiya language. A typical tapori song, which would remind u of the naughtiness of 'Aati kya khandala'.

''dilbara dilbara

apun ki tu

apun tera

tujhse dil lagau

main bhi family banau

ab bas yahi to irada hai mera''

SALAAME: I believe this song is odd one out in this CD because it is not about love. It is a salsa number, which will make for good listening but depends a lot on mood. Not a very catchy song.

''dekho deewano kya mast-mast hai samaa

jo hai abhi hai yeh waqt-waqt phir kahan

nai raat hogi nayi baat hogi

naye kal ko aao salaam kare''

SHIKDUM (The Bedroom Mix): Good but original is much better. Nothing much has been done to convert the original to a remix, just added some beats which makes an otherwise good song a mundane stuff.

DILBARA (Reprisal): Exactly same as the previous one; only difference being it contains some dialogues in Abhishek Bachchan's voice. Now does it sound exciting? Not to me.

DHOOM DHOOM: English version of Dhoom Machaale by Tata Young. It is a terrific song because of music and not the singer. Tata Young's voice is not half as livelier as Sunidhi's. But lyrics are exorbitantly amazing.

''dhoom dhoom

let ur body do the talking

dhoom dhoom

I wanna keep on rocking

dhoom dhoom

get the rhythm of the beat now

dhoom dhoom

feel the fire in the heat now

dhoom dhoom

take a trip to heaven

feel the magic just go zip zap zoom''

Overall, it is a good album. Even if it is expendable, it's worth listening once. For once the title track will exhilarate your senses and let you forget worries of everyday life. Ditto for other numbers.

Get listening then!!
