Like every little child I had a great attraction to ‘cartoons’ all through my childhood. I never wanted toys or ice creams but any one could bribe me easily if they permitted me a half an hour more of cartoon to watch. My attitudes for cartoons remained more or less the same till my grade 9 {I know that’s kind of too old enough…}. Slowly I diverted my interests to many other issues may be realizing to be a big girl all of a sudden. But there was one cartoon for which I never lost interest for, yes it is ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ and I am still not ashamed saying that I watch it even though being a college going student.

I do not know how many of you are going to read , comment , rate or make use of my review, yet I want to write on this topic for my complete satisfaction and love for the cartoon.

Dexter is a boy genius and he owns a secret laboratory with highly advanced equipments behind the bookshelf in his room. Access to this never ending and sophisticated lab is possible only by saying some passwords or hidden buttons behind a particular book on the bookshelf which actually is the door.

Now before I move further let me take the chance to introduce each character briefly:

a) Dexter: He plays the central character for the cartoon. The creator and owner of the lab, he is a mad red haired short 8 year old scientist. He has a funny German accent which no other family members possess, intended to be given because he is reminded of Albert Einstein.

b) Dee-Dee: She plays an 11 year old simple headed pesky sister of Dexter. A completely different character from Dexter she occupies herself with dolls, ponies, unicorns, fashion issues and most of all invading her brother’s lab and destroying his creations. Most of the cartoons deal with revolt between the siblings. Her favourite dialogue is “Ooooooooo .What does this button do?” which she says before meddling with Dexter’s inventions.

c) Mom: A very unique character to be mentioned. She plays the role of a red haired mother of Dexter and Dee-Dee. A perfectionist, who is allergic to dirt and unhygienic surroundings and finds it difficult to move around without wearing her yellow rubber gloves. The cartoons reveal that a lot of character traits of Dexter have been received from his mom.

d) Dad: A stupid blond haired husband and father. A very funny character as a whole and loves playing golf, going for bowling, fishing and is a car maniac. Dee-Dee’s traits are from her father for no doubt.

e) Mandark: The villain of the story and the worst rival of Dexter. He is almost equal in his intelligence to that of Dexter’s and also owns a lab of his own, in fact much bigger than that of Dexter’s. He has strong crush on Dee-Dee and his greatest master piece is his mysterious laugh.

Dexter’s Laboratory is an American animated television series created by Genndy Tartakovsky which was produced by Hanna-Barbara Cartoons for Cartoon Network. I assure every one out there that any one can watch it regardless of your age or gender. You will only know the difference of how much you shall enjoy once you start to watch it.

Dexter and his sister have always amused me each time I have watched them. I still enjoy the silliness and cute humors that are narrated for each episode. It has always helped me to relax and has greatly helped me to forget my worries at least for a little while. I take this opportunity to specially thank my dearest and nearest ‘Dexter and Dee-Dee’ who helped me calm my nerves even during my worse tensions.
