Good flight but not crew

This was my first experience with Delta airlines, given a background that I had less options for my travel to Europe. I was travelling from Mumbai to Amsterdam. First of the impression at check in counter was good, as they took very less time to clear and the attendants over there was friendly enough.


This flight in particular (I guess) has a additional security checking just before boarding the flight, which is not usual with airlines and other airports. Its good in terms of security precautions, but necessary time should be kept in buffer to ensure that the flight is departed on time. It was really so bad that I had to sit in the flight for almost 1.5 hours before departure and ideally the flight was delayed by an hour from the departure airport itself. If additional security is needed, they should start boarding atleast an hour before not 30 min :).


Secondly the flight crew was not that passenger oriented as responses to queries or request was not provided most of the times. Importantly, all crew was English speaking and none were Indian. This is something I felt as a major drawback, given that they cannot answer to questions from passenger who dont know English. I feel Delta airlines should look into this seriously, as there are many passengers who are aged and can speak only Hindi. To give them required support, there should be a local language speaking member in the crew. If a crew member couldn’t understand what the passenger is asking (as they try hard to explain in English), they should be patient enough to understand and respond.


Overall, surely I would recommend my friends, as the flight is good in terms of its seating, service timing and food served. At same time, surely I will not recommend old or aged people in this flight as the crew is not supportive to that extent and delays that could cause them lot more pain.
