I have owned quite a few Dell Computers before this one. This is my second laptop and I would gladly run this one over with my car if I could fix my old one! I bought the Inspiron 5558 notebook and we also bought a Dell desktop at the same time. I agree with a lot of the negative reviews on here. I don't find the speed all that bad but start up takes forever! I bought this in March and have been on the phone with Dell Techs twice a week for more that 3 hours each time since March. It's been extremely frustrating. I used to have faith in Dell Computers and now I wish I had bought just about anything else!
It's fast and pretty functional. It's true that the fan is loud sometimes if it gets too warm and the computer creaks if you don't support it correctly, but those are just minor aspects that don't seem to influence my delight with the computer. I saw many computers around this price point but none of them peaked my interest as much as this one.
The Inspiron 5558 is very inexpensive for a laptop with a Core i7 processor and a 15.6-inch display, but it just doesn’t measure up to Dell’s usual quality standards. Its fit and finish are suspect, and it should have more USB ports, a faster Wi-Fi adapter, and gigabit ethernet—even at this price.
