At the outset, let me confess I have not been on this site. Have read reviews by 3 members and I wish to air my views on similar such site. They are all over, on Indiatimes, Rediff and many more.

And another confession, I am aged, happily married for 30 years and not looking for another partner. Having said so....

I would much recommend going to desi chat sites, like rediffchat, strike up friendships and meet the other person at a public place of convenience, should YOU HAVE A COMMON INTEREST! Males seeking sex, forget it! Look elsewhere. Women, at least the smart ones, are no fools.

Most women who put up their profiles looking for the opposite sex for whatever reasons, on sites like desidating.com, have ended up thoroughly disgusted by our perverted Indian male attitudes.

As one responsible MS member has written in his review, these sites are of entertainment value at best. Just surf and laugh.

I used to be a chat addict for years. I have met many chat friends both male and female in real life. Let me confess, my wife never approved of meeting chat room women and vice versa. Many men do not know that their wives chat!

This is a true story close to home.

A dear married friend (male) of mine, holding a very responsible position in society, struck up a friendship with a married woman over two years on on rediffchat. He was much older to her and was more of a mentor who the woman trusted, for all the right reasons.They never met, although they lived in the same city. Later they started to send SMS to each other on each othesr mobile phones, playfully referring to each other as ''Darling'' etc.

One day this woman's mobile received an SMS and her husband read the message inadvertently, starting with a ''Darling.......''.

He slapped and hit his wife angrily and suspected a relationship between my friend and his wife. He called back this friend and abused him no end. My friend tried to explain patiently that there was nothing to it. Eventually the aggrieved husband found out my friend's residential number, called up his wife and told her that her husband was having a relationship with his wife. She believed him.

There was hell to play in both households. Possibility of divorce and stuff like that. Fortunately nothing happened further.

Married men lie about themselves when they put up their profiles on sites such as desi dating and many others, looking for easy meat. There is no verification procedures on any of such sites, which makes things dangerous.

We chatters at Rediff had some rules about meeting fellow chatters. Always meet in groups and become friends just like we meet and become friends at school/college/work place.

Women, be careful when you log in your profiles at web sites like desidate.com, or whatever else. Many have come to grief. Maybe some have benefitted.

But in chat rooms, I do know a few folks who met liked each other and got happily married. And a few married folks who got divorced because of unwarranted affairs.

Suffice it to say, I am not holding a torch either way for chat rooms or desidating like sites. Both are time wasting useless, dangerous places to be in.

And am no prude either.
