Location

Daitchi is quite well located in South-X 2 market of South Delhi. It boasts of an impressive neighbourhood, you'll find all the best brands clustered around. A visit to it can be part an wonderful evening of shopping/strolling. It is easily reachable by public as well as private transport.

Ambience

Definitely not 5 star, though I must say it is impressive enough. Lighting is soft, interiors are average and choice of music being played is highly questionable. What the restaurant lacks is a quite corner. All the tables are located in a straight hall directly visible from the entrance. Not the place to get cosy.

Service

While the idea of ethnic waiters is exotic, it doesn't do a world of help if they are not really proficient in English/Hindi. Service was prompt on the only visit I have made there.

Food

Since I have made only one visit to the place and that too with a very tight budget, I'll speak only about what I ate.

Vegetable Pepper Salt (Rs. 100/- apprx)

We were looking for some veggie starter for the sake of my vegan companion. The mentioned dish sounded ''safe'' enough. It is a selection of vegetables(predominantly brinjals) soaked in gramflour paste and deep fried. If this sounds familiar, try the homemade ''baigan ke pakode'' for much better taste.

Suki-Yaki (Rs 200/- apprx.)

It is a soup based dish, served on a hot plate. A large bowl filled with lots of soup is divided in 6-7 sectors. Each sector is densely populated with a different stuff, which were Beans(boiled, thats it!) , rice noodles(very fine and of very high quality), chicken/pork/mixed(again boiled), some green stuff(tasteless)......rest I can't recall. The soup was yummy but the taste was spoiled by raw egg resting bang in the middle. Moreover the dish had almost zero spice, so we had to add red chilly sauce to it (don't worry, it isn't as bad as it sounds)

Apart from that we ordered a few noodles which were very normal. A general tip is to go for dishes with red chillies indicated next to them on the menu card, even these dishes hardly come up the acceptance limit of an average Indian taste bud.

Overall not a bad experience, they did show promise here and there, and I can never judge on the basis on just one visit, it just isn't fair. Do give it a try.
