I bought this product from Amazon on 08 Dec 2015 and had to return it on 11 Dec 2015. I was so excited to get my hands on Virtual reality headset for the first time.
This technology is in market from past many years but Google made it available for mass consumers based on it's cardboard technology.
This device is based on Google's cardboard technology.
Pros:
No product specific Pros I could identify. Though it fits a smartphone in size up to 6 inch.
Amazon's return policy(in case you are buying it from Amazon). I must say Seller's return policy is also good.
One can buy VR6 headset from seller if they are looking for metal body cardboard, as VR6 headset has magnetic controllers. You might not need to buy an extra device.
Cons:
- It is very heavy. It is made up of metal. Metal is used for durability, But that adds weight to it.
add this is not good for long term uses. It feels very heave on your head.
Edges are sharp. There should have been some padding used to cover edges. There is a cushion but the quality is not up to the mark.
No magnetic Controller. This is the major con this Virtual reality headset has. Your smartphone should have USB On The Go support. Is you don't have USB On The Go support than you might need to buy a bluetooth remote. This bluetooth remote may cost you around another 400 bucks. Through USB On The Go you can use your mouse. Even bluetooth mouse are compatible.
Sharp edges may damage Smartphone.
Virtual reality headsets are still in beta stages. Not many applications are available in playstore. But I must say whichever applications are there, they are just awesome. Experience of using Virtual reality headset can not be described in words. You got to experience it yourself. Now, If you do not want to spend much money and want to experience this awesome technology, than I would recommend you to buy a cardboard worth rs. 400-600. while buying make sure it is not made up of metal or plastic. Use the one which is made up of cardboard it self or you can make one your own also.
One thing I forgot to mention that, you can watch 3D movies using Split screen viewers from playstore. Watching movies on cardboard is just awesome, You would feel like, you are watching this on a big screen.
