Concern: Coverfox.com does not respect user privacy. They immediately circulate your phone number to Insurance companies and Brokers; which will lead to you getting lots of spam marketing calls.

A few days ago I was planning to renew my car insurance. Having seen the Coverfox ads, I wanted to try out the service. I logged into their website and entered the basic details(including my phone number) to see if they offer good deals.

Some of the premium quotes looked less than the normal, that's when I paid attention to the WDV - written down value or current value of the car. they are under insuring the car and hence lower rates. If I enter the normal value after depreciation, the premium is almost same as elsewhere!

Bottom line - Coverfox shows lesser premiums by undervaluing the car. In case of a total loss, I will get lower value only.

So I decided not to proceed with buying insurance from Coverfox.

From the next day I started getting calls from Coverfox, asking if I needed help with buying. I clearly mentioned I am not interested and I will not be buying from coverfox.

After two days, I started getting at least 2 to 3 marketing calls per day from various Insurance companies and Insurance brokers asking about my renewal.

Clearly, Coverfox has sold my phone number and car details in a database to various agencies for telemarketing.

I understand that coverfox is trying to run a business and earn money, but selling potential customer data is not a good way to earn trust.

Sorry Coverfox, you lost one customer.

BTW, I did not try their competitors, after this bad experience with Coverfox, I realized that the best way forward to check what are the lowest rates that I can get online and go directly to an insurance company and they will match / give a better deal. Afterall Coverfox is nothing but an Insurance broker. just operating online.

Update 1: Fake positive reviews: There are a FAKE positive reviews by a Coverfox employees / agencies. For example, See the four star reviews by user'gln1988' and also'HEALER56' - both are written on Oct 2nd, within an hour of each other. The language / words used are similar / same.( gln1988 also seems to be a known fake reviewer since his other review on MS has been deleted?)

Gmail warnings: Looks like Coverfox.com has also sold my email ID to spammers! I got a email from a'noosk.com', with an advertisement for Coverfox.com, with my car details. The mail has gone into spam box directly and when I open, there is a Gmail warning message: "Be careful with this message. Similar messages were used to steal people's personal information. Unless you trust the sender, don't click links or reply with personal information."
