This review is about the 2 Country club resorts I have visited so far "Country club de goa" and Medchal country club. I'll write a seperate review for the Country club medchal.
Country Club De Goa - I really had a sick feeling that I was conned into taking this country club membership and I did not have any expectations when I went to Goa this Nov 06. With my fingers crossed I went to Goa.
This being the start of the tourist season in Goa, the crowd was just trickling in. We took the train to Goa (Madgaon) from Hyderabad which turned out to be very long journey. The cab from Madgaon to Anujuna where the country club resort is located cost us Rs. 900/-
The resort was surpisingly good. It is a new resort with good rooms with all the stardard stuff you would expect from a 4 star hotel - split AC, fridge, tv and a microwave. There was a medium sized swimming pool (which unfortunately was being cleaned during our visit). The good thing about Goa is that you are not stuck to your resort. The first thing we did was hire a Activa scooter for Rs. 200/- per day. And that's about it. You are on your own roaming the empty country lanes of Goa, visiting sun soaked beaches. (Baga beach near Anjuna was my faviourite). Britto's restaurant on Baga beach is the best restaurant serving very good continental food. (By the way, if you are going to Goa and still want to eat Punjabi and south indian food.. just forget it.. go somewhere else). You get good port wine for about Rs. 70/- per bottle. No. 7 brand is recommended by the locals. The western crowd prefers Vin Ballet.
On the whole I really loved the country club resort, the service and the atmosphere of the resort and would recommend it highly. I would like to visit other resorts in Country club and I am looking for people who would write reviews about them.
