I have got a seat for MSIT- ITM College, Navi Mumbai. Per my knowledge this institute happens to be the first few to make mandate laptops for students. So pleased I brought a new COMPAQ Presario laptop for INR 73, 000.00 I have paid the amount in few installments.
As soon as I purchased, the DVD driver burst. However, as it is within warranty they replaced with new one. It is very slow in functioning while other branded laptops from Dell, Thoshiba worked well.
Though it does not have a DVD writer, I just bought it for having faith on brand "Compaq-HP" Tie-up.
Within one year it was not working at all. Its been hours since it woke up. The warranty is finished by now . I took it to nearest authorized service provider. They asked me to pay 8000/- for the service. I am shocked. I didnt give for service and brought it home. After few months one fine day I tried opening it and suddenly I noticed it ..it ...it "Windows is starting....".
If I had given it for service they would have by now charged the above mentioned. Every thing gonna fine with lazy speed and just okay for browsing. I maintained it in good condition all the way. Here comes the major problem. The charger is not working, I again took it to HP service center.
They said that it would charge 8000/-. OMG..what is this INR 8000/- all the way to get at least anything. I didn't want to pay for that again, because the laptops in the market NOW cost around 20, 000/-.
Few months later I tried due to necessity I went again to these guys and asked for same. Now there is the good news for me. The spares for this model have been stopped. That's what they did for a product worth 73, 000/-. Small companies are offering service to products worth few 100's as long as it can be attended and COMPAQ-HP ..shame on your part. I did a blunder buying a product which has never been supported service in any possible way.
I took it to a local service center they charged me 300/- and Ha ha ..Hey HP...are you reading ..it worked uninterrupted for next 5 Years. Do you have anything to say to this. Where's you figure 8000/- and where's mine 300/-. Money matters for you ..but keep in mind it matters for US too. Shameless Beggars. They are other ways to loot people but not cheap ways.
This might be few reasons why people are choosing other brands like DELL, SONY, IBM, TOSHIBA and EVEN Samsung.
My money is with you..Enjoy the fruits for now..not for ever.
