I want to tell you all about a nasty experience that I had with Club Mahindra. Like many of you we went to attend a sales presentation and I got taken in by all the smooth talk. I took a membership making my mother the first applicant.This was in December 2007. I paid 29K+ as the downpayment.


however two days later I had to for urgent financial reasons reconsider the decision and I went to the Ansal Plaza outlet and gave a letter to cancel my membership to the manager . I was assured that since this was within the 10 day freelook period I will recieve a refund in 30 days. I am glad to tell you that I did recieve a refund but this was on the 12th of June 2008- six and a half months after the promised timeframe.


And it was not as if they sent this on their own. I had to chase them by phone, fax, e mail every month.I wrote to the Ansal Plaza manager ( What can I do about this .Refund is not my responsibility .You should talk to the refund/cancelletion dept), the refund and cancellation dept. (The refund advise was sent to us late;there is an audit going on;we will dispath the cheque by the 10th of next month;we are sorry that the cheque has not been made but we will inform you when we will dispatch it by the 15th;sorry sir the audit is still on next month;sorry sir but we are shifting this month etc etc)the regional manager ( I have forwarded the letter to the new regional manager), the new regional manager (no response) and finally to MR.Ananad Mahindra (Top boss of the Mahindra and Mahindra Group)himself. I discovered mouth shut community and I learnt that I am not alone in this experience. I then warned others by e mail.in short I did everyting that I could , short of sending a legal notice ( which I would have as the last resort) to get my money back.


I finally did get my money back this month . I will never know if it was due to the Mr.mahindra, the e mails or mouth shut but what I do know now is that if an offer seems too tempting take a deep breath and a walk before getting tempted (by fight tikets/gadgets/free holidays etc in case of CM).


The refund letter said, "Should you at any time wish to reconsider your decision we shall be happy to welcome you back to the club" Thanks but no thanks really!
