I planned a holiday with my family to Coonoor and booked a room at McIvor villa through Cleartrip on 3rd May 2016. The booking was for 4 nights from 25th to 29th of May. After making the full payment I got a confirmation email with the hotel room voucher on the day of booking.
There was no further communication from Cleartrip or the hotel till 24th afternoon when a Cleartrip representative called me and said that the room is not available as the hotel has not confirmed the booking. This was 21 days after I made the full payment and confirmation of room availability was made by Cleartrip through email.
They offered to put me up at another cheap hotel which had bad reviews at Tripadvisor and not in the same category as the one I had booked. I declined the offer and asked for a refund.
Although I tried to book another room, I could not find anything at such short notice as the flower show in Ooty was scheduled during the same dates. Ultimately I had to cancel my trip.
Also all requests to talk to someone senior at Cleartrip were unsuccessful as the customer care representative said all of them were unavailable to attend any call. On the whole I have to say Cleartrip handled this very unprofessionally.
