CitiBank sent me an e-mail to ask if I wanted one of their credit cards.
I only use one credit card, a Visa, from my bank.
The promised me a $200.00 smart deal, if I would do my banking on line, with them. For people who live in the United States, where there are CitiBanks, this may be a great offer, because you go get a card at a bank.
CitiBank does not have a bank in Canada. The only place I can use their credit card is at a Petrocan Gas Station.
There are very few Petrocan Gas Stations in Canada. We don't use the one in Victoria. We use Shell, because we have a Aeromiles Card, that we can use at Safeway, The Brick Furniture Store, and many other places.
Visa issued me a credit card, because I have a bank account there. At the end of the month, I must pay at least $50.00 or 10% of what I have charged.
CitiBank decided if you get a card, base on you other debts, monthly income, if you own a home and the number of times you have a applied to a card. The minimum payment is 48 %.
ThereTV ads are interesting.
It show a farmer and his wife, stepping out on their porch one night.
The sky is dark, when all of a sudden, the northern sky lights up. The wife asks her husband, ''Is that the boys acting up?''
Her husband replies, ''No. It's all the people in Canada, using their CitiBank credit card.''
Then you see a map of Canada, with every city, town and village, with a light on.
This ad is misleading. I don't know one Canadian who has a CitiBank credit card.
Am I going to get one?
I'm not. I wouldn't bank on the web, even with my bank. It's not good to give out any personal information on the internet.
I know a few people in the United States, that had their identities, stolen by doing that.
I'm not. I believe you should only use a credit card, from a bank in your country.
If their TV ad was deceiving, I don't trust them.
It's up to you what you do.
Thanks for reading my review.
