There has been a trend in Bollywood to make films with the names of old Hindi songs for about a decade now. I think the trend was started by Yash Chopra super hit Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Chura Liya Hai Tumne is yet another name in the series of such movies. Title of the movie has been taken from the famous Yaadon Ke Baarat song “Chura Liya hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko” sung by Zeenat Aman in that flick. That was a really melodious number and it’s one of my favourites. Coming to this one now, although the film was as poor as you’ll ever see, but the music was really a pleasant surprise. The singers are good, the lyrics are meaningful and the beats are rocking! All in all a good investment!

1. Chura Liya Hai Tumne (4:59)

The title song of the film, it certainly is the best one in the whole album. As they say, well begun is half done, with their best song right at the start, they manage to get the listeners in the mood for the album. It’s a new era romantic duet, with the lover confessing to his beloved how much he loves her, how his heart has been stolen by her and how keeps thinking of her all the time.

Singers – Alka Yagnik & Shaan ; Lyrics – Sudhakar Sharma

Rating – 9/10

Aankhon Se Kaajal Ki Tarah,

Phoolon Se Khushbu Ki Tarah,

Dil Ko, Chura Liya Hai Tumne,

Oh Jaana,Yeh Kya Kiya Tumne.

2. Mohabbat Hai Mirchi (6:14)

This is the most popular song of the album, especially among the youth. One could easily find them dancing at its tunes in parties and discotheques. It’s a fast track with good beats and some funky https://lyrics. As the name suggests love has been compared with a chilly in this song. The song is full of energy and inspires one to fall in love without caring about this society, the norms or anyone for that matter. Nothing is greater than love. It also says that love isn’t an easy thing, so if you can’t take the heat then it’s better to stay away from the kitchen!

Singers – Shaan & Gayatri Iyer; Lyrics – Sanjay Cheel

Rating – 7/10

Jaan Hatheli Pe Rakh Lo,

Aankhon Se Moti Chakh Lo,

Teekhi Teekhi, Tez Tez Yeh,

Sooli Par Hai Sej Sej,

Imaan Bana Kar Tum Rakh Lo,

Mohobaat Hai Mirchi, Mohobbat Hai Mirchi,

Mohobbat Hai Mirchi Sanam,

Uljhi Uljhi, Tirchi Tirchi,

Mohobaat Ki Galiyan Sanam.

3. Don’t You Love Me (4:52)

The song is more of a romantic dialogue session between the two lovers with some great music in the background. It’s a very light and romantic number & is quite soothing to the ears. The lover wants to stay with his beloved and romance with her, but she is trying to distract him by saying that he should go to sleep, so that they can meet in each other’s dream and romance for hours without the risk of anyone noticing them! A very sweet song indeed!

Singers – Alka Yagnik and Shaan; Lyrics – Sudhakar Sharma

Rating – 8/10

Teri Ada, Teri Nazar,

Teri Hansee, Teri Umar,

Yaara Kehtee Yahee,

Poocho Dil Se,

Don’t You Love Me Baby?

4. Boys Are Best (4:10)

Who are better – boys or girls? Yes, that’s what this song is all about. A debate between the boy and girl both trying to prove their supremacy over the opposite sex by giving some of the most humorous logics you’ll ever hear. Just like the other songs this one too is full of energy & positive waves. Play this song when you are in a dull mood and it surely will put the doldrums away & get you rocking!

Singers – Shaan and Sunidhi; Lyrics – Jay Verma

Rating – 8/10

Humse Hai Zamana Saara,

Hum Zamane Se Hain Nahin,

Hum Jo Chahein Chura Lenge,

Tumko Tumhe Se Aey Haseen,

Boys Are Best Jaan Lo, Baat Yeh Man Lo.

5. Dil Hai Mera (4:16)

This is the only sad song in the whole album. But don’t expect a slow Jagjit Singh or Pankaj Udhas track. Just like the other songs the trend of fast music is continued in this one too. Although the beats are comparatively slow but still fast enough for a sad song, and this fresh approach is certainly a welcome change from the usual slow gloomy numbers. The lyrics are heart touching. The girl is feeling cheated, and thinks that it would have been better if she hadn’t fallen in love and didn’t trust the guy. His love is false according to her. The boy is equally sad and trying to prove that his love for her is true.

Singers – Udit Narayan & Mahalaxmi; Lyrics – Jay Verma

Rating – 8/10

Dil Hai Mera Kashmakash Mein Yaar,

Poochti Hai Dhadkan Meri, Kyon Kare Aitbaar,

Jhoothi Baatein, Jhoote Vaade, Jhootha Hai Tera Pyar,

Poochti Hai Dhadkan Meri, Kyon Kare Aitbaar.

6. Love Theme – Instrumental (2:40)

This one contains the music of the title song and is as refreshing as the song itself. The use of drumbeats in the background has not only added life to this one but to all the songs of the album. Thanks to the fast music it’s an ideal album for one to play while driving. It will really smoothen your journey!

7. Mohobbat Hai Mirchi – Hot “N” Spicy Version (5:07)

The original song has been remixed by adding some more funky beats and fast music. Since the original song itself was pretty fast, thus, I don’t find any logical reason of including this. But maybe since, they publicized the album with this song and they expected it to be a hit, so that kept it twice in the album. That’s the only reason I can think of.

Singers – Shaan and Gayatri Iyer; Lyrics – Sanjay Cheel

Rating – 7/10
