Capacity & Size of AC: First of all access the size of the room, according choose the capacity of the AC. Its depend on floor size of the room. Average 1 ton AC is sufficient for 130 square feet area & 1.5 ton is sufficient for 170 square feet and 2 ton is approx 220 square feet area.
Energy efficient: AC consumes more electricity than the other appliances of the house hold. It consumes 40% of the electricity bill. You need to consider the EER which indicated the ration of the cooling output of the unit. There are lot of AC are available in market with star rated energy efficiency ratings.
Type of AC(Window or Split): Window AC are cheaper that the split AC and window AC are easy to install and fit in the windows. Split AC are little bit tough to install but that provide air very pleasing and better air distribution.
