H2O X5 Steam Mop
Jun 20, 2012 07:07 PM 101304 Views

I was in testing mode from 6 months. Finally I thought I should give my thoughts here. When I bought I did not find any reviews in India, I found some on Amazon.com, but they are not applicable in Indian context. But I bought it, just out of my fascination for that infomercial. Impulsive buying, not an informed decision. I hope my review might help someone to save their money.

Firstly, I lived in USA for 10+ yrs. I am a cleaning freak, I tried all the new cleaning products in USA. I am settled in India now. In US, there is not much dust. In India, there is so much dust everywhere. I did not put any maid, I do everything on my own, so when I bought this, I was hoping all my cleaning will be done magically.

Few things first. This mop does not leave water on the floor, as many were complaining. I put the steam in minimum and was using this, so I never saw water on the floor, it dried instantly without even a fan. Also I could vacuum a big living room, a dining, and a big kitchen without refilling. Whenever I clean, it feels really clean.

But it does not clean'hard to clean' spots on the floor. You have to use some cleaning product for it to clean a hard spot. I have marble floor and it has a tendency to trap the dirt and it changes its color. When I bought this mop, marble cleaning was the only thing on my mind. But I am very disappointed to see that it did not help even 1% in cleaning my marble. I can say, if any stain is few days old, may be it will go. But not otherwise. When you use the hose or small hole with iron brush on the marble, its damaging the marble. Even if it helped, there is no way, I can clean a duplex house floor with that small attachment.

I used the other attachment, which is round and cloth is on that. I have metallic decolum in my kitchen, I used this attachment on the doors, inside and out, and it really cleaned well. But again few drawbacks. We tend to push it a little hard when there is stain, but if we do that, its putting light scratches on the metal decolum. So next time, I was careful and was gentle, so its ok. Other drawback is, you have to hold it to the sides or down. If you hold it up, some how the steam drop falls on your hands, which really burns your skin. Anyway I bought it and I cannot return it in India, I am figuring out ways to use it, at least once in a while.

To use any attachment, you have to carry the water compartment. I wish there is little stand to hold it. This makes it really useless, to use the attachments comfortably.

Main drawback(in my case) is, after using the mop for 15min or so, I get either severe neck pains or knee pains. This happened every time I used it. I wanted to make sure about this, that's why I waited 6months to write this review. We pay double the cost in India, Rs.9990, compared to$90 in US.

I will not recommend this to any one. Instead, I would wait for automatic vacuum cleaners, which will clean and mop on their own. In US, these are not yet matured, almost every review I read, they had to exchange theirs in the first year, since we wont have that option in India, its better to wait 1 or 2 years.
