My uncle got operated from the same hospital and that's how we came to know about this hospital. My father was in severe back and right limb pain and had several sleepless nights due to slip disc L5 leading to suppression of S1 nerve. My father could not walk without my or my mom's assistance. I have seen him crying because of pain.
All this started in October 2013 and we approached this hospital in the month of June 2014(04/06/2014). It took us so much of time as my father did get himself diagnosed at one of the leading government hospital in Delhi, also he even attended physiotherapist classes as well as a famous Ayurvedic hospital in East Delhi. However, when not much was fruitful and post discussing with other family members we approached Indian Spinal Centre, Vasant Kunj.
My father got himself enrolled for an amount of INR 950 as consultation fee for a senior Spine Surgeon DR. KALIDUTTA DAS( the Surgeon was also recommended by the receptionist SAJAN GOVINDAM). Hence after a wait of almost 1 hour we finally met DR. DAS. Post telling him the problem and he examining my dad he straight away mentioned that my dad needs an operation(POSTERIOR DECOMPRESSION+ STABILISATION+ TLIF) .
As it had been a long time since my father had this problem, I had almost gone through a through research to see the side effects for an operation of this sort. Hence I asked the doctor what would be the success rate or side effects of the same. To this DR DASS answered that in today's world there is no guarantee of a wife being with his husband after marriage( said in a very sarcastic manner). After which I asked DR DASS how many days would it take my father to recover post this operation.
To this DR DASS mentioned at the maximum 3 to 4 days. DR DASS also asked that for how long has this problem been. My father mentioned it's almost an year and also added the reason why it took us time to come to Indian Spinal Centre. Post listening this DR DASS said go to any god or visit any temple operation is the only solution to this problem. Finally DR DASS told us that we can meet at the insurance desk outside and they along with a nurse would give us a detail of the amount incurred in this operation.
We were so very disappointed post DR DASS appointment. He was extremely rude, no manners of how to take care of his patient, instead of empathising he seemed to be more interested in pushing the patient for an operation as if there was a personal interest of DR DASS(not sure). Not giving enough time as if he had to finish the appointment(I believe we were the last or second last appointment for the day). He seemed to be extremely over confident as I could judge by his answers. He might be professional at work, however with his patients he needs to understand them, empathise with them, be caring.
And let me share this too with all of you who read this, as a second and last opinion we visited SAFDARJUNG hospital. And I have no regrets in calling this DR a god, as despite the number of patients he had appointments of, he was mind blowing. My father is perfectly fine for over 6 months now and that too without an operation, just because of DR ABHISHEK KASHYAP. He took so much good care of my dad, understood the problem very well and offered us solution where by my father is very well today. Does everything which is required in daily routine life.
