Upon choosing a cooking range, you must first decide whether you have a gas line hooked up to your home or electric. Because, if you choose to purchase gas and find you have no gas lines, it can become a major expense, and sometimes can not even be done. And visa versa.
So, let's assume you have electric (for the sake of this article only) There are still many decissions to be made.
Do you want a conventional, 4 burner top? Do you want a no burner, smooth cook surface? Would you rather have a 3 burner with a griddle or an upgraded 5 or even 6 burner model?
And that is only the beginning!
Do you want a standard oven or a convection oven? Should your oven be on the bottom, or do you want a model with an oven on the top. How about 2 ovens, one on top and one on the bottom.
WHEW !
Do you want your oven to be self cleaning , contineuous cleaning or a basic,'' you have to clean it oven?''
Don't forget, how wide the space is you have to fit the stove into.
Do you have a need for a storage drawer below the (bottom) oven?
You also have to decide if you want or need a built in clock and cooking timer. Push buttons or knobs. White or a color. Do you need to have a window on the oven door and a light in the oven?
And the list can go on and on.
You also have to consider price! Stoves can vary in price by brand, features and colors.
The purchase price of a stove can start at a very low $199.00 and go up as high as a couple of thousand dollars.
Know what you want before you go out to buy it. Look at all the store ads, ask friends and neighbors and family members what they have and if they're happy. Window shop.(Go to a few different stores.)
And don't forget to ask about the cost of delivery and installation.
Once you are sure you know what you want and where you want it from...Go ahead, make your purchase and have many, many years of good service from your new appliance.
