?In whatever language I use it, the word denotes for the same beautiful meaning of those people without who my life is incomplete! One disadvantage of being an only child is that there are time when you do feel a little lonely and want someone to share your joys and sorrows with. In such times, whenever I have looked around, my Friends have always been there to support me!
Imagine this situation: You study alone far away from home and aced a test in a subject you are really weak in(for me that subject is Maths?argh!). You want to share this minuscule, yet satisfying happiness, with someone as soon as possible. Now, if I were home, in a situation like this, I would typically run to my mom and show off my little achievement! But away from home, most of times, Friends are those who are willing to say ?Well Done? whenever you are able to reach even the most insignificant goal! And believe me here, the feeling of satisfaction becomes tenfold when a friendly pat taps you on the shoulder!
How many times can I recall, when I was feeling my lowest, and just a hug from my best friend seemed to give me so much confidence and support that nothing in the world seemed impossible to solve! As I always say, My family is my weakness, and my friends are my strength!
Now, as you can tell, friends are really special to me, so naturally choosing the right gifts for these friends is important to me too! Even though I strongly believe that Friendship and Trust are the best gift you can give to any person, there are times when you do need to present these special people with little tokens of your appreciation. So here goes?
Tickets?for any kind of entertainment!
In today?s world, everyone has busy and hectic lives. Work, studies, family problems, loans, health?all these things are forever on the common?s man?s mind! All these things cumulate into a stressful life, which totally takes the juice out of living! You can?t really attempt to solve any of these since it?s a natural phenomenon, which every individual has to deal with at one point or the other. However, you can offer your friends with something which would break their daily routine! Gift your friend with tickets to any kind of entertainment that he/she enjoys! Entertainment as in movies, theatre, music concerts, opera, art exhibition, stand-up comedy show, circus, sports, etc etc.?the list goes on! So go ahead, help your friend forget the daily issues for a while!
Exquisite Meal
This one goes specially well with the ladies! Food may be the simplest and most taken-for-granted-thing ever, but this gift is more about the entire experience than just the meal itself. Everyone needs a change once in a while, to get away from a humdrum life. People need to spend time away from their natural surroundings to revive the motivation of living in them! This gift may specially be significant to those ladies who get sick of tasting food made by themselves(my mom complains of this all the time!). A meal away from home is just what one needs here. You need not dent your pocket too much, even an ice-cream outing is sufficient sometimes! The point is to treat your friend to an outing! If you don?t mind spending a bit more, you could take your friend to a place which serves his/ her favourite cuisine! I?m almost a 100% positive that your friend will love you for that!
Surprise Surprise!
I personally have experienced this, when I organised a birthday party for my best friend last year! He?s a smarty and sensed we were up to something, and asked me? are u planning a surprise or something? But I?m no less, I confidently told him, ?Surprise, what surprise? You have high hopes buddy!? Hehe?the poor guy lost all hopes of a birthday party after that! Then, when it was The day, we all wished him(naturally!) and all told him we have other plans. We took his mom into confidence, and she told him they were going out for a family dinner. When he landed at the restaurant, (Chinese?he loves it!) we all screamed at the top of our lungs(oh boy can we scream!), ?Surprise!? I swear, the look on his face is unforgettable!
It?s a myth that you need a reason to party! You can party at any time, with no rhyme or reason whatsoever! But if you need an excuse anyway, here?s one:* To lift your friends? spirits!* In more practical terms, if your friend?s Birthday is nearing, there is nothing more special than organising a surprise party for him/her! The look on your friend?s surprised face is worth a million bucks!
Giggles and Gossips
As life moves on, friends move on too. I sometimes feel bad that I haven?t been able to keep in touch with so many of my friends. The very friends who used to be by my side 24/7 got lost somewhere midst the complications of hectic time! Yet, whenever I get any of their phone numbers, I make it a point to ring them up, and catch up on all lost time! Believe it or not, whether I talk to some friends after 2 days or 2 years, nothing seems to have changed at all! Maybe the situations, the concerns, the other friends, the work, the studies change slightly, but deep down the people stay the same, the thoughts remain unchanged and fondness for a close friend never changes! A sudden phone call(totally out of the blue!) can remind you and your friend of the good times you spent together! A fond memory is Much more valuable than the most the expensive necklace!
Finishing thoughts
Gifts don?t need a time or an occasion or even a fixed price! The most important thing to consider while presenting a friend with something is that you really have to put some thought behind this token of your appreciation. It doesn?t matter whether you?re gifting a mere hand-made card with?you?re my Best Friend? written on it, or the most costly diamond-studded watch! What really matters is that you want to make your friend to feel good after receiving your gift.
Money cannot buy happiness, so it really is not a issue if you don?t spend too much on the present. It?s the thought that counts!
