Indian Cinema-The changing hues

As everything undergoes change . so has Indian Cinema.and whether is for the good, or the not so good, is really a personal choice(and is well influenced by the Generation Gap!)

Well, every aspect has transformed.the music, the sets, the makeup and clothes, and most importantly the Plots.which have assumed a very novel style with the coming of young producers like Farhan Akhtar.

There still are the BooHooHoo type films like'Hum Saath Saath Hai'(Big mistake watching THAT!), and then there are the classy ones like Black and Dil Chahta Hai.which are very authentic.

Then there are the imaginative ones that make it to the Oscars for no real reason(I'm sure u know where i'm pointing .He he!).

Then there are the Classics remade aka Devdas which is the perfect example of the changing nature of Indian Cinema.because its been remade for the Third time.

My Grandfather very often tells me that this version of Devdas is not Real whatsoever.its too Rich.and too colorful and obviously few scenes are made up, for instance when Parvati's mother goes to Devdas's home to try and ask his family to give their love a chance, she gets nothing but abuse, and in return.curses his family to have a condemned future blah blah. None of that, says he, ever happened.neither in the book.nor in any of the Earlier Devdas films.

I guess thats because, certain things have to be done to please the masses.

Well and coming to the Most discussed.there are films like Murder(there.ur Sporting a wicked grin.!) The coming of Mallika Sherawat has brought a new dimension to the world of cinema! And most people haven't taken it well.but I say that change is inevitable.and theres no stopping it.

Most definitely Indian Cinema is a lot bolder now.but it was bound to happen.!

One thing thats really really UNcool that i've noticed about bollywood is that its becoming a Dynasty. Most of the actors that we have today.are star kids.and talent is not really a concern anymore.

The number of Talented star kids is negligible.to name a few we have Konkona Sen, Abhiskek Bachan, Rani(whose father was a director), Kajol(evaporated somewhere!) But then there are the Mishaps like Tushar Kapoor who figures in only his sisters films, Kareena Kapoor who occasionally and by mistake puts up a good show like Dev, Shaid Kapoor  (Girls. He is NOT hot stuff please!  -))

So coming back to the point.the prime space is not alloted to talent.much like reservation in colleges!

But overall.films these days are changing with times.Like Salaam Namaste depicted a very real situation, which maybe the average midlle aged  Indian finds difficult to comprehend, but  someone my age would understand!  So films are changing to suit the new upcoming generation.because their makers are part of our generation.

Things like Dance are changing.u have more of the Discotheque types in more and more films rather than classical stuff . Music too is changing as the Digital age is taking its toll. Remixes govern the scene.and originality is lost except for a select few films like Taal(and basically all the works of The Maestro RAHMAN!)

Most importantly.we finally finally have filmmakers who thankfully don't feel compelled to hit the three our mark and fill the film with crappy songs and  dance  around the tree routines.

And bascically there is a LOT less drama, as family melodramas are now left to the K serials of the small screen.! Ha ha ha.!

Real world situations are in the limelight.!

And its going to keep changing.the newer the concept.maybe the less will it appeal

to the masses.!And there will come a time when the film indutry will have outgrown todays 20 year old too!
