The City Desired. Review on Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Standing tall and beautiful. Having a chance to boast about it's culture and the environement. A place which otherwise would have been YET! another farming place, has emrged as an major player in the developing cities of INDIA. Reasons are many:

1.) Well Planned city.

2.) Nice and Clean Environment.

3.) City People: Warm and Friendly.

4.) Economicaly on a HIGH side.

5.) Rated as the most expensive city (INDIA).

Although all these are facts, but they are not enough to explain a city. Which rose on it's own feet, a dream of our very own CHAHA NEHRU, To give INDIA a city, Technically advanced, yet socially warm.

CITY OVERVIEW:

The city has been planned by famous architect, LE CORBOURISER. The whole city has been divided into cleanly laid sector. Which are pre-defined blocks, again having alphabaticly sub-domains. The roads are staright and clean. The city baosts a GREEN BELT, which is a row of neat and beautiful gardens. Although, It's a fact that nothing in chd. is natural, All of them have artifically created. But yet! all the tourist places in chd. are able to capture your attention, and mesmerise you. The human-created LAKE, SUKHANA. IS a major player for chd. It was palnned out as water reservoir for chd. but later turned out to be a happening spot for chandigarhians, The lake has promisingly calm environement. And is a hot spot of migratory birds. An evening at lake is capable of taking your breath away. Another hot features are the ROCK GARDEN, ROSE GARDEN and the SECTOR 17 plaza, The sector 17 plaza...is one of the biggest shopping plaza for chd. and is one of the hottest spots for the younger generation to hang around. The city people has a great liking for food, and thus there is no dreath of eating joints here.

PEOPLE OVERVIEW:

The chandigarhins, being influnced by closeness of PUNJAB, are very friendly and warm. Especially the chandigarh youth. Although this city houses a lot of SENIOR CITIZENS and Retired Majors, but yet both the generations have a capabale understanding. The youth here have developed a very fundu concept of GERI which is another form of indian Tafri. Or a practise where a route has been defined as a GERI ROUTE where all the hottest and Peppiest youth of chandigarh hang around, with a steam of eating joints, chick cloths, and happening music. Even the chd. admin recognises this route....and has adopted it very cleanly. being in chd. you have to be on a GERI. It passes all the major collegse present in the city. Chandigarhians, Have there main concentration on education. And it boasts of many world renowed educational institiutes. The city doesn't have a NIGHT LIFE and most of the occasions or celebratiosn die out at about 10:00 Pm, and the regular days are limited upto 9:00 PM. Although this doesnt implies that the city is completely dead after 9, A nice and decent crowd is regular at cool pubs and discs, the number of which has been increasing in chd.

The UT admin. is par excellence. And has a quick responce over everything, EVen the cops are quick to respond, and very happy to help. But still corruption and evils still exists. Yet! The crime rate of the city is still on a high side, but with new technology and a few training programs, have been looking quiet promising.

The chandigarh, being a modern city. Has developed a modern culture of it self. Being the capital of two states. It has developed a fusion of culuture. You can find very conservative people, and few very braod minded people. This fusion is what makes chd. excel in a few places.

Pollution and Population is a problem, Which no city can deny. Although chd. was esatblished to cater aroun 1lakh of resident, the number is still rising. Although the administration is still quiet quick and effective, but the big question is for how long?

Till then, I will rate chandigarh....as the city desired. Warm and Happy.
