What do you do when the cast and the crew comment on the ''differentness''(i hate that word) of the movie that they have made??...well you succumb to their words and fall flat on your face!!.....thats exactly what happened to moi!....Well it definately was my fault, but since the songs were pretty catchy(even though all of us had to bear with Abhijeet's crooning), the starcast was good and the promos looked fresh I thaught why not take a peek?...well lemme warn you guys....dont get inquisitive coz as the old saying goes,''curiosity kills the cat'!.....to get on with the review....lemme assure you my review wont be inappropriate even though your eyes have gone through expert opinion,but I strongly believe that the experts get paid by Mr Khan.....other wise how could K3g get 5*s???
THE PLOT...
As the posters tell us...opposites attract(THANK GOD FOR THAT),but opposites are also different in many ways...well there are bound to be problems when opposites come together....thus there are bound to be problems when a man and a woman fall into the boundries of a relationship,with their distinctively different nature and way of thaught....also the gender factor has a lot to do with it!.
This is what the film is all about....The problems that beings face when in a relationship of any kind....in this case a marriage!.....Well as I may like to remind this subject has been tested quiet a few times....right??....rememmber SAATHIYA or the just released KHWAHISH?? also in many other movies in the past!....why then should you think that the audience will like your movie?(The first day current booking was ample proof)
The story can be narrated (IN FULLEST POSSIBLE DETAIL) in just about 4 sentences or lesser...
Raj falls in love with priya.....she is engaged to Sameer..Raj wins her over by his charm...Priya succumbs and marries him.....daily problems trouble....financial worries makes priya borrow money from Sameer.....Raj's huge ego is shattered to bits,terrific battles follow.....Priya walks out....Raj begs her to come back.....Happy days are here again!!!!
Well if you are satisfied with such a paper thin storyline with a very ordinary treatment then chalte chalte IS the movie for you.....but you will come out disappointed if you are looking for more!
THE DIRECTION,TECHNECALITIES AND TREATMENT...
Whyyyy cant directors look for a good story before taking up anything? This movie looks like as if it was ment to be a quickie made to earn big bucks!....The director goes overboard sometimes with the characters...like the extravagent anger shahrukh shows at the party and tells his friends to get out.....i mean do normal people behave like this?...i definately do not think so!....also I feel no one will fall in love just on a rendevous that happened on the highway..
Technically the film is just about ok....if you wanted to make a lovestory with a waferthin storyline atleast shoot on some scenic locales for visual satisfaction!....The scenes looked dull at times and the lighting at places was bad!...The dialogues were ok and so were the costumes and other aspects.
The treatment of this filck could have been different....i mean they could have shown what problem a person may face during the transition from a super rich girl to a middle class house wife married to a truck garage owner!....but as usual the overall look and treatment nothing out of the ordinary and exactly similer to the 1000 other movies made in bollywood!
THE PERFORMANCES...
SHAHRUKH KHAN: I've stopped expecting anything different from Shahrukh khan....he is the same in all his bloody movies....He was exactly the way he was in k3g,DDLJ,KKHH etc...cant say more about his performance!He gets irritating with the twiching of his lips and screwing his eyebrows act!Probably only the Shahrukh crazy girls find it cute!
RANI MUKHARJEE: Why did Rani do this movie when she had just finished doing saathiya which was a very close cousin to chalte chalte?...She did her job well as usual and looked better than usual!
JAS ARORA:Cant say much about a wasted character like him...he was ok!
ADITYA PANSCHOLI: Beyond my vocab to judge a blink and you will miss role!
Overall a okey dokey first half and a bad and cliched' second half.....give it a skip or catch it on DVD!
