Sorry abt the boris becker bit - but daniel craig does resemble the boom boom boy of tennis in many a shot in CR (minus the shaggy blonde eyebrows). a huge fan of martin campbell (he gave the franchise a new twist with brosnan) I went in to see CR... hmmm!! being a remake I knew what the plot would be... but the beginning blew my mind... the entire sequence with Parkour thrown in was a salute to being updated and up with the times... as with all 007 films - the beginning leaves you breathless... remember goldeneye... the dam with brosnan?? so this was up to the mark... the plot thickened with many a twist and turn, but the characters or the plot did not explain itself... we were suddenly encountered with characters that just walked on to the frame and disappeared... so back to the movie... giancarlo giannini giving a running commentary to expalin the card-game was quite out of place. but I guess campbell knew that the modern world google-village dwellers would have no knowledge of poker, baccarat or any other funny sounding card games... what was that thing??? I refer to vesper lynd (eva green)... she goes down in franchise history as one of the worst bond women... uptight, lousy acting, weird lisp and way of speaking, and not at all sexy... infact le chivre's blind eye had more character than her... what a dissapointment... M lived up... what a woman... daniel craig has gone to Press saying he has a crush on M (judi dench) - yeah now u know why... anyone given a choice between eva green and dench wd love the latter... in fact judi dench's one dialogue is worth everything to beat lynd... what a waste... and then what was happening in the second half?? it was like watching a bollywood flick... the melodrama, the love, the extended 25 mins romance angle!!! err, was campbell watching old jeetendra or dharmendra films?? the scene under-water when he tries to save lynd with outstretched hand took the cake!! it was hilarious... yeah yeah Bond was made more human in this one... but should he have ben made into a caricature just to keep up wit post 9/11 times?? come on!!! daniel craig aka boris becker doppelganger... he says I love you, and I want to kill you with the same expression... but you know what he did not dissapoint... though he had no charm like connery, the looks of moore, the wit of brosnan, and nothing that dalton or lazenby could offer (err they had nothing to offer) - daniel craig still made a decent bond... the only time he laughed out loud was when he was getting his balls tortured - and that was just so funny -"at least now the world will know you died trying to scratch my balls!!" that was daniel craig without any "acting" armoury... the plot was great... and bond actually dies in the movie... err, well almost... the absence of Q was made up by some new techno-gizmos... would I recommend this movie? yes I would... or actually wait for the foreign DVD release... because what you will get to see on indian screens is a much censored version where scenes finish within seconds (so we were also saved from its lengthy 2:28 duration)... check out daniel craig in LAYER CAKE...
