Cal - concious!!. Review on Cal's by the Bay, Delhi

East of Kailash is soon becoming the ''Pandara Road'' of South Delhi. New, trendy & economical restaurants are opening up on a regular basis... Most people have frequented Big Chill at F Block...right opposite, a new place (its not very new) called Cals...by the Bay. The location is central, but parking is a BIG problem...there is no designated parking space for anyone visiting the area...

The decor is too simple for a restaurant of today. It is nonetheless, quite inviting & friendly. It is quite obvious that the drawing room of a house has been converted into an eating joint. Really...let me tell you why I know for sure, there is space left in the walls for cupboards. Huge pastel coloured drawings/ paintings of vegetables & fruits decorate the walls. Come to think of it, it will do well as a playschool. They could probably sublet it during the day.

The Menu is Exciting & Highly Affordable.... They offer various cuisines, there is Italian, Mexican & even Greek!. The platters cost about Rs. 175 - 225 & include a choice of soup, main course, garlic bread & a dessert. Lemme admit, I totally Freaked out! And to top it all, the food tastes good. They aren't stingy with the Cheese toppings or olives. I tried the '' Greek a la Moussaka '' Yup, that's me...I have to try the most different item on the menu. It was quite authentic, in our kind of way, I am sure I couldn't have digested the REAL one, anyway.

BAD TASTE we had heard a lot about the place, & one Sunday night we decided to go visit. While looking for parking, we noticed the door said, ''CLOSED''. Highly disappointed & all ready to go back, we saw some customers walking in. I mean, it was just 830 in the night!! One of us went to check on it & it seems the people inside didn't even know the board said, ''CLOSED''. That is quite careless, must say. if we hadn't know, we would have gone back home, maybe few others did!! Overall, needs a bit of polishing up...but can be recommended.
