Storyline:

There’s nothing unique in the story or its treatment. A pair of con-men, sorry con-persons, one male, one female and a police officer chasing after them (Amitabh). Still the story is good for a few laughs. So there are these 2 people stuck in small towns, Rakesh who likes to invent new things and conceive new schemes and Vimmi, who idolizes all the heroines and models and designs clothes for herself. Rakesh is faced by an ultimatum by his dad to go for a railways interview, while Vimmi is faced by a similar ultimatum. People are coming to see her for marriage.

So, both, separately, run away. And, of course, meet on some station. How they become friendly then friends and how they start doing cons is quite good. The humor gets the audience. Then their cons are shown just as a summary, with them running away. Not good. The story moves fast up to the intermission. Pregnancy and then motherhood of Rani is quite irritating. After that it loses much of its speed and also its humor. The climax is typical goody-goody type and a total flop. The climax, in my view, totally sucks.

You can see quite clearly where the director has tried to milk the Amitabh-Abhishek combo and it’s pathetic. That is a contributing factor in the climax being a flop. Aishwarya’s item song is ok but has no significance to the story and holds the speed back.

Acting:

Rani Mukerjee looks good in all her dresses, not just the modern, sexy outfits and dress but even in her ethnic type kurtis and all. Her acting is very good and shows that she has become a mature actress now. I’d give her 5 stars for her acting and appearance. Abhishek is fine in looks as well acting except when facing Amitabh. Abhishek pales in comparison with Amitji. Actually he loses all color and looks like an amateur. Amitabh dominates the screen whenever he comes no matter what the scene and co-stars. Rani, surprisingly, holds her own even when facing the king. Abhishek should have avoided doing that song with Amitabh, they are both on screen at once, and comparison is inevitable. Doing the same steps and words, where Amitabh looks his character from the soul out, Abhishek looks like a college boy dancing in a carnival. Rani’s dance is quite cool, her body language and carriage displays her confidence and experience. To be fair, when not faced by Amitabh, Abhishek does a good job too.

Music:

Songs are good that they have very good, catchy music and the singers have all done a great job but the lyricist has left a lot to be desired. Still the songs will be a hit, are already hit, because of the music.

Conclusion:

Overall, a good entertainer to see for once but I am not going there a second time. I’ll definitely own the VCD, though.
