My name is Ganesh. I went through all the Joys/painful experiences shared by the folks. I would also like to share my experience overhere. I own a T.Bird 2005 Model. Its around 3 years ever since I bought my Bull. I bought it in Chennai. Currently I live in Bangalore. I have ridden 20000kms so far. In between I was in Gulf for an year (2006). So I would say I have used it only for 2 years. My bull had to lay down idle at my home for an year with my absence, because no one was there to take care of it.
I have covered 591kms in 9 Hours with my Bull. Thats my record so far. However I prefer to break my own record by covering 700kms in 9 Hours with my bull. I have changed clutch cable twice in 3 years. I never faced any issues like tyre puncture, break downs, oil leakages etc., I haven't changed my Headlamp and my indicators. No electrical issues so far. Its all factory default. I have covered almost 350 SQKMS in karnataka/Tamilnadu. My bull had seen good roads, bad roads, mountains, dangerous curves etc., I haven't changed my tryes & tubes yet..it keeps going. Ofcourse it a bit expensive in terms of maintenance.
I used to get it serviced once in 4000 or 5000 Kms. I used to spend Rs.1500 to Rs.2000/- per service. I have a habit of get it serviced only at Rolay Enfield show rooms. Here in Bangalore, I do it at Tecnik Motors-Indra Nagar. They service it very well. I used to wipe my Bull once in a month with kerosine after cleaning it with normal clothes and cover with cotton cover always. Thats the reason why, I can maintain my bike rust free even after 3 years. It gives me 35 to 40Kmpl. My Bull has become part of my life. I feel proud to Own such a big pride machine. Obviously I don't mind spending some extra money to maintain it. My suggestion for the people who worry about rust, wipe it with clean cotton cloth once in 2 days completely including both the rims & wipe with Kerosine once in a month. Never use water to clean the bike (except water wash at the time of servicing). In case if you have to use water, wipe completely & cover it always when not in use. Out of my own experience, I would say that thunder bird is the best RE models. Although its quite expensive to buy, its worth buying. In case if you are thinking about maintenance free & fuel consumtion, please better buy some 100cc or 150cc. Never think about Bulls.

I would like to share my thrilling experience during my chennai. It was amazing when I visited chennai and came back to Bangalore on 3rd day. I was least bothered during my journey.
Though I had a luck and haven't prepared myself for such a long ride. I'd covered 760kms. I had to face several uncertainties since I didn't verify my check list. So just to keep things in mind while preparing for a long ride.
Make sure that your Bull is in Good condition. If possible get it serviced with complete Oil changes.
Make sure that your clutch cable & sparc plug are in good condition. However have spares along with you.
Make sure that you have your tool box with you.
Check your both the tyre presure. (25 - 35)
Full the fuel upto the capacity which will give you some more Kms extra rather than filling often during your ride.
Maintain your bull in 65 - 70 Kms on the main roads. Do not raise more accelerator. It will cause poor milage.
do not carry your Credit / Debit cards. Preferably have some money with you. In case if you require to carry your card, please carry your debit card with limited balance. Its just for saftey as well as in some places, we can't expect to have ATMs :-)
Never ride your bull on the rain.
Once in 2 hours, Halt your bull and wait for 10 - 15 minutes, then continue..
Avoid traveling alone. ( I did this mistake. Luckily nothing happens)
Atlast, do not plan longer rides in the night.
Wear your Helmet compulsorily. Do not ride your bull without Helmet.
