Done 32, 000 km run on Electra 5s. My experience had been awesome too far.


Just changed pilot bulbs to LED's:)

Done 12000km run of my year old Electra 5s.


Writting my experience so far:


Fuel Consumption: good in city and best on highway.


Comfort: Most comfortable bike for Indian Roads. I have many time taken trips of 200+ kms in a day. Favourite tour spots: Pune-Nashik, Pune-Mahabaleshwar & Pune-Lonavala to name few.


Reliability: Very reliable machine, I mean you can feel the ease by which you can cruise at 55-75kmph on 5th gear, I mean the engine feels to effortlessly drive the bike. I mean it surely must be not more than 2.5K RPM to keep the bike above 60kmph.


Handling and Control: Nothing like it and it is getting better day by day.


Looks: For the past one year, most often, on signal stops, people don't miss a stare and manytimes ask how is the performance of bike. You can see it in their eyes, I mean, pupil getting large to look at the bike without missing anything.


Guidelines to take care:




  1. I have been very active in non-technical subject after I got my bike. Earlier was fully in Computers.




  2. Run engine as per the Maintenance chart and speed guidelines.




  3. You can drive Electra 5s on as low as 40kmph on top gear without engine knocking. But follow the range given in the Users Manual.






4th gear shoule be in range of 40-55kmph, this reduces the load off the engine.4. Air-inflation should be regularly checked and Petrol from known single Petrol pump(if possible). I fill HP-Power, If I change to Speed or other, I can easily spot the engine noise change.




  1. I am planning to write "I am a Professional Racer, and only race for Money, Please don't try to induldge me in one". Many a times, people like to drag bullet owners into race with toys. I mean Apple and Oranges cannot be compared with each other. Bullet are High-Torque low-RPM machine, japenese engines(Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki etc.) are Average-Torque High-RPM machine.High RPM do more work to reach to same point which can be reached by doing low work(This doesnot stand for Races). The only difference is People shoot on Green signal, gain top speed and then brake hard on other Red Signal. Where-as Bulleteers(and some sensible bikers) drive at engine friendly RPM reach Red signal and slowly brake. I mean friendly interaction with engine and avoid race to now-where.
