I recently had an interesting interaction with ‘bookmyshow.com’ I request all the readers out there to share it with your friends and spread the word. Bookmyshow.com has started charging the ticket booking charges(the so called'convenience charges') again. They should be taking their commission from the cinema halls, theatres and multiplexes instead of charging extra pennies from their own loyal customers here. These multiplexes are anyway making a huge sum of money through Bookmyshow.com. We need to spread this and make sure they stop charging us.

I started with asking them for a justification for again starting to charge their customers for booking tickets on bookmyshow.com. The website in return could only present a vague reply that they always levied a charge which they had to halt due to a court notification. As soon as the order was stayed they resumed back to charging the customers. I wondered how would this benefit you and me who want to avail their online booking services! I popped my second question. They very sentimentally made this fee their daily wage per say. Apparently, as a company, this would be their deserved sole surviving way. I retorted asking them why they couldn’t charge the theaters, cinema halls and multiplexes as they are minting a huge profit from this instead of taking this out of our pockets. Bookmyshow.com chose to not reply to my genuine question and has gone dead on our conversation since.

A friend of mine booked six tickets of Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya via bookmyshow.com and wound up paying Rs. 200 extra charges. Isn’t it ridiculous? They claim this charge to be the company’s bread and butter. I highly doubt this possibility. They most definitely, as one of the prime booking sites, have other ways of revenue aggregation. The website’s reason of halting the charges on court notification is just weird and vague. They couldn’t provide a legitimate reason for the court order either.

I have taken screen shots of my conversation I had with them and have posted it on prominent social media sites. I request you to carry forward my effort and do the same. Let’s try to stop these charges and fight in our own way for consumer rights. Cheers!
