While the entire cow-belt of India is roasted under the unforgiving sun and the mercury soars to nearly half the boiling point of water, Delhi being 45 degrees centigrade, Arunachal is blessed with soothing rain that has kept the temperatures at levels that the rest of India hopes to achieve in their rooms after paying their air-conditioning bills through their noses.

When God made Arunachal, he was in absolutely no hurry and took his own sweet time to make this paradise. Not a single barren patch is visible in this state. Lush green as green can be. If kindergarten kids are to be taught about the natural brilliance of green colour, bring them to Arunachal to show them how green the hue green can be. Never did I know the green can be so green. If you want to give anybody a heart attack, blind-fold him and air-lift him from Tsogtsalu in Ladakh and drop him in any district in Arunachal Pradesh. The sudden contrast from the dry barren terrain of Ladakh to the rich green landscape of Arunachal would be enough to give him a shock, that could be medically diagnosed as Cardiopulmonary Embarrassment due to “Green Shock”.

I am yet to see such dense jungles. Just imagine the number of unexplored botanical specimens that would be present in these forests, just waiting to be discovered. I am certain that the herbs to cure all the maladies of the human race would also be present amongst the wild flora of Arunachal.

Lord Hanuman would have surely come to Arunachal Pradesh, if he knew it was so green, in search of the Sanjaveeni, to save Lakshmana who was mortally wounded in battle. He would have airlifted one of these green mountains all the way to Lanka from the West Siang District to save Ram’s beloved brother.

Green tourism is another unexplored area that would pay rich dividends if optimally exploited. All those sore eyes that have got tired of the drab grey of the concrete jungles of the Cities would give anything to feast their eyes on the lush green hue of Arunachal Pradesh.

I see so many wild banana trees in these jungles during helicopter flights, which makes me ponder if their fruits are edible. If properly harvested, this state could become the banana bowl of the India. I was astonished to see the precious herb that is a priced medication in Ayurveda and Unani, known as Brahmi. If Dabur comes to know of the existence of Brahmi growing wild in Arunachal, they would not bat an eyelid before setting up a factory here. Arunachalees have redefined the meaning of colour green to the world. Come let us raise a toast to Green Arunachal.
