“Body of Lies” is yet another master piece from the stable of Scott Free Productions, with Ridley Scott proving the nature of his genius of making films. In a world which is gripped in the fear of Terrorism come to the scene two guys, one an operative with the CIA and other boss of the operative.

The liking of Ridley Scott for Russell Crowe is justified again in this film, where he plays the role of the CIA Chief Operatives for the Middle East. Russell aka Ed is superlative in the film. With a lot of bombs and guns the film is a perfect action movie with lots of logic in it. Based on a novel written by David Ignatius the film has perfect screenplay by William Monahan, where each and every character has been given the right shades which are required.

The film though an act of fiction brings in to picture what USA and CIA can and will do to get what they want let what the cost may be. Leonardo DiCaprio’s role as a field operative in the Middle East needs him to have a very different look and that’s what he looks like in the film. And when it comes to his art of acting he is at his best, whatever he speaks and does in the film prove again that he is worth of the money, not only for the makers of the film but also for the audience.

The cinematography of the film is quite apt where Alexander Witt has been successful to give a feel to the film with scenes shot in crowded place giving a touch of reality to the movie. What remains a most important fact is that the film doesn’t glorify the act of CIA, but tries to show how far the agency can use people and lie to get to what it wants. The film travels to places which are the epicenter of terrorist activities and tries to relate to the reality. It also tries to show the emotional side of DiCaprio the field operative, who at most of the time tries to be honest and truthful as far as possible.

The music of the film is in sync with the script and makes them more happening. I would give a high five to the film and call it a good one to watch. The Scott Brothers master in making films based on novels or true stories about the agency (CIA). One film which comes in to mind is the Robert Redford and Brad Pitt starrer “Spy Games” director by the other brother Tony Scott; where in the same issues of emotion and truth in the world of spying are raised.

Through there are not straight similarities but the plot to some extent remains the same. Spy Games had Redford as the mentor of the young operative Pitt in the field, which is strikingly similar in Body of Lies. The issues of love, trust and faith have been explored in both of these films. If you want to spend a Saturday night full of action, then Body of Lies can be the one to watch. Lights, Camera and Action will get you CIA and Middle East on your screen. One to enjoy!
