Faux Pas

Woohoo! I can finally write?well talk again in a review!! Sorry for the long absence?I lacked inspiration sigh.

Also, a BIG BIG thanks to all the people who kept in touch?I WILL get to the replies?I promise! =) This is a recently added in topic...the smart person who did?thanks so much!!! Since it is called, ?Blunders in Hindi Movies?, I shall interpret a blunder in my own way.

For me, a blunder is different to a blooper. A blooper is just a small error, a faux pas, whilst a blunder could refer to something more serious.

In Bollywood, blunders are made everyday?from the wrong choice of actors and actresses, to the wrong choice of films being produced and directed, to the remixing of some songs that just shouldn?t be meddled with!

But if Box Office and Sales reports are anything to go by, the general public appreciates these ?blunders?, so what maybe a blunder in one?s eye could be the ticket to fast-track fame in another?s.

Mere Liye =), a blunder is made when the director asks us, to believe in fantastical miracles?yet at the same time, present these unbelievable incidents as ?reality?, in a ?real? world.

Now, I?m not referring to medical miracles?but particularly those like the end scene in Mujhse Dosti Karoge, where the sindoor is dropped by Hrithik on Rani?and it makes no mess, and forms a perfectly straight line?going down the head and exactly where her ?cheer?/parting of hair is?watta miracle!

For me, that ruined the magic of the film.

Or a blunder is also made when the film projects a message that could be detrimental to society. You all know what I?m talking about!

Example One: countless movies where we?re shown that for girls, being yourself isn?t important?what?s important is to dress like how your man, or any other male character, wants to see you dressed, refer to Kuch Kuch?, Main Hoon Na

Example Two: Sleaze is the way to the top. I?m sorry, but that sends the wrong message to any one?guy or girl. Hard work and talent should guarantee success?coz what is sleaze? Take off your clothes and you have your job minus your dignity. Who should want that and why should we settle for that? But Bollywood?am I missing something?

Example Three: hatred is ?spread? purposefully against race or gender. Pak Bashing, Religion Fascists?these are all blunders made consciously by the directors. How else can the director fail to notice ?Pakistan Murdabad? if it?s not meant to be there??

Example Four: Director tries to pass off a weak plot by including sleaze, sleaze and more sleaze?of course this also comes under Example Two?but when sleaze is there instead of the plot?aarrrgghhh?and the Actress considers taking her clothes off as superb acting?puh-leaze! You can be sexy without being vulgar and cheap.

Example Five: Plagiarism is a blunder?in movies, it?s like ?inspired? but in songs?especially by Anu Malik?that?s a blunder that costs the small time original artists their well deserved fame?and then we are taught lessons on Piracy?even though I agree Piracy isn?t good, but practice what you preach first!

Example Six: Does it bother many that the director has not properly researched his story and has presented the lame excuse for a film in wonderful packaging and expects us to swallow? Wrong move pal.

Now of course the Film Industry cannot be blamed for all of the Blunders. We, the people (recognise tagline =)), are partly to blame. If one director shows sleaze and sees that the public loved it?that is obviously going to start a chain reaction, OR if one movie had a cool theme and made money, all movies will follow that SAME theme!!

Of course, the Underworld that finances many of our films has er??some? say in the way it?s made. Not going to say no more?don?t wanna be the next person on some ?Bhai??s hit list! =)

The film industry needs their income, they get it from us?should we really reward lazy directing, not enough thought, and just plain cheapness?

Should we really waste our money and fill the (already stuffed) pockets of thoughtless directors/producers?

Should we or should we not? That is the question.

Btw, just for fun, in comments section, I?ve included some Bloopers?when copy and paste work!

Ciao

Ena!
