Good Food, But Bad Location and Maintenance. Review on Bhojohori Manna, Andheri, Mumbai

I went to the one at Andheri West, Lokhandwala and I had actually turned back after seeing the location, area and the way the place was maintained. I am a non-Bengali and wanted to sample authentic Bengali food and this place was highly recommended to me by my Bengali friends. It is ahead the Heera Panna Mall Oshiwara and is very close to a huge garbage dump! There were loads of flies in the vicinity and I was going to visit the place with my family.

I still took a brave step forward and entered the place. Let me tell you, please do not expect it to have great ambience or for it to be posh as it is pretty basic and not properly kept. I went there with my family and my brother and I immediately got a place and we were waiting for our parents to arrive. No waiter was even coming in our direction to bring a glass of water and I had to request them at least thrice to get a menu! I understand it was a busy Sunday evening so I too did not want to pester them.

The first thing that put me off?

There were loads of mosquitoes in the place and not small ones, but huge black ones. I was extremely worried as my father was a stickler for cleanliness and this was definitely going to anger him! I told the Manager about it and he did something about it and miraculously the mosquitoes disappeared! We called for a Paneer Starter and it was pretty good. We decided to call for a Veg Bengali Thali, that consisted of rice, Luchi, Alu dom, Cholar Dal and another Vegetable, Papad and a Sweet Pickle, Sandesh and Misti Doi. I must say that the food was very delicious! It somehow made up for the disappointing exteriors and services. I really loved their food! The dal was unlike anything I have ever had and the sabzi came with some fried noodles of potato and that tasted really heavenly.

The Luchi with the sabzi was outstanding!

An advise for the folks at the restaurant. The food definitely is very tasty and there are loads of people who come to place to have authentic Bengali food, please look into the cleanliness of the place and better service provided by waiters as they seem to be harassed lot, who can tend to argue! Otherwise the food it perfect!:)
