I was 18 when I first started using contact lenses. I never went for branded ones because they were very expensive. As I was based in Chennai I had a good optometrist who provided me with very good lenses. I had soft lenses and then changed to semi-soft lenses, but never faced any problem. I was very comfortable with them, with good after sales service and within my budget too.
About 8 years back because of pregnancy and after effects I gave up wearing contact lenses and switched over to wearing spectacles.
Now about three years back as I was in Mumbai and it was difficult to get lenses from Chennai I went in for branded lenses, Bausch and Lomb suggested by my optician. They were excellent and within my budget too as the prices of the branded lenses seemed to have come down over a period of time. The optician said I could use them for a year. I got new ones after a year and used them with no problems.
This year I had to go for new ones, so I went to my optician here in Chennai where I have moved few months back. He was hesitant to provide me with this brand of lenses but I convinced him that I have been comfortable with them for the past two years. But the cost was high compared to what I got in Mumbai, but I needed them desperately so I agreed to pay my optician the cost he demanded. I wore this new set of lenses and then started my severe headaches because I was not able to focus properly as one of my lenses was not right. I went to my optician and he promised to speak to the company and get it replaced, and he with all his might tried and got it replaced. Next I wore this and what do I see, it is worse than what I had been given the first time. The curvature was not correct both the times. The optician informed me that this was the reason why he was hesitant to provide me with this lens, because every second customer has been coming to him with complaints.The company also is not co operative with him to listen to such complaints from customers.
How can a company like Bausch and Lomb provide such substandard lenses in the first place.Secondly the cost varies so much from place to place. Thirdly the lenses supplied seem to be of poor quality.Fourthly there seems to be no proper expert check on the lenses passed on to the customer. The company seems to have no ethics.
Lenses are supposed to be something very important for sight and they are providing such lenses, which may cause bad effects to the wearer.
Readers please beware of these lenses, survey the market and go for lenses provided by a more professional and customer dedicated company. Bausch and Lomb is just robbing the customers blind Even thieves have some principles but this company is beyond that.
