First I will tell about why did I go for barcaly credit card(cc). Since I had only one cc(icici) before barclay's one, I felt at many times during my usage to have more than one cc, as credit limit was low on my first cc.
My initial encouter with Barclay's Bank Credit Card division(BBCCD) was a raw deal. When they called me for free membership cc, I was waiting for it to happen. I quickly agreed to their conditions and then the next day submitted all necessary dox to their collection agent. But for a period of 2.5 months I din't receive any communication from BBCCD regarding approval or rejection of my application. I was pizzed off at this point. Now suddenly after 2.5 months I received a SMS that they have shipped my cc to my given add and I really found a courier in one week.
Now, let me list out the good and bad points about using this card:
1) Good: all monthly bills reach me in time(within 1 week time from the day of generation of bill
2)Good: they are now providing lot of options to pay the credit bill online. This is a big POSITIVE.
3) Bad: they do not have any bank branches within bangalore city(only outside city limits) in case you run into any issue/dispute.
4) Bad: in my casethey lowered my credit limit by 80% without informing to me, due to which I had to replan my spendings with other credit card.
5) Bad: they do not provide online facility to check your credit usage status like how much you have spent and other details. They only provide facility to pay your bill online.
Apart from this, I haven't used any other typical services of cc like balance xfer, dial a draft, cash withdrawl etc etc. so have no comments on that service part. So far now, my experience have been Ok Ok with BBCCD. Will update you if I get a bitter experience with them.
I will be skeptical in recommending this bank's card to any of you, because of above mentioned points. My only concern is if they start allowing me to check my spending status online like other banks provide for eg ICICI. I will be happy recommending anyone.
