Hey guys ! here is a 1st hand experience of a guy who now lives (has to live) in bangalore coz of a job in a top IT company.
i live in bangalore since 2months. if it was not for my company which I love very much then I would have left this place within 2days of getting here. to say that bangalore is the IT capital of india is one side of a coin - the other side, the dull side is something nobody talks about since most people that work here get salaries and perks that keep their mouths shut !
if you have a job in a top IT company then you have no choice but to come here. but then i've lived in New Delhi for a good 7years before I got here - and I suddenly feeel cheated. bangalore is a city in south india that suddenly jumped into the spotlight since every other IT company opened an office here. the locals used the situation to their full advantage and they fully exploit the fact that highly paid people live here and they have no other choice but to bear with the city.
bangalore is expensive. right from the fact that u have to pay 10months of security deposit just to rent a house here (no exaggeration here) to the steep autorickshaw fares and the traffic jams to the high road tax and power and water bills - bangalore is one very expensive place and certainly not worth half of what it charges the people that live here. petrol is 20% more expensive than north india as well as everything else from basmati rice to plain roti and dal in a restaurant !
actually, if u're a local and have lived here all ur life then u might love the city. local food is very cheap and the climate is wonderful. but then if you're not from south india, then probably you're going to have a tough time as long as you are here.
problems with the city :
roads are pathetic. pathetic means worse than you could imagine.
traffic problems are getting bad from worse day by day
lack of good food at a reasonable price
to live in a good residential area be prepared to pay 10months of security in advance, as well as a very steep rent
pollution has increased and now equals most metros
local transport is expensive
language problem as a lot of people dont speak the national language and english is not very well understood by everybody
nightlife is non-existent as compared to delhi and mumbai
good things :
weather is excellent, except that it rains almost every other day
the educated people are very helpful
south indian food is available at dirt cheap rates
alcochol is available everywhere and there are bars all over the city
malls and shopping complexes are aplenty in the city
lots of multinationals have offices in the city. for IT people bangalore pays the highest salaries in the country
.. all said and done these are my views on the city, and I am sorry if my views may seem offending to anyone. just that I have expressed my feelings. please comment of my review and good as well as bad comments are welcome !!
