After having stayed in Bangalore for 3 years and loving it I could not bear to see it bashed repeatedly. (Amrita?s review totally shocked me). Therefore I am writing this review to bring out the good points of Bangalore.

Bangalore is a south Indian city with the best weather I have ever seen in any other Indian city. It is neither too hot, neither too cold. You neither need a sweater nor an AC (although these days heat has gone up). The place is around 2000 ft ( I am not sure on this ) above the sea level, hence the temperate weather.

It is called the garden city because the city has numerous gardens and two of them are very large(Lalbagh is a botanical garden of about 500 acres, and Cubbon Park which is so huge that the high court and various other buildings are in it). Even apart from the gardens the place is very green and totally deserves its name of garden city.

The city is also the most Cosmo city that I have ever seen in India. The place is full of people from so many different cultures and states in such huge numbers that the city can?t be called a south Indian city anymore. It is the only city in the country where you can get along just fine by knowing either English,Hindi,Kannada. The other south Indian languages are well received too.

I know that BATF (Bangalore Agenda Task Force) has been dismantled but the idea of private organizations and government departments working together to develop a better Bangalore was a great one (I still can?t understand why the new government has not continued it). But this organization did the planning for the city and the private companies like Infosys etc actually took initiatives in doing some actual work. If it were allowed to continue it would have done wonders for the city.

The place is very vibrant. A lot of activity takes place there. It is full of young people trying to make it big. These people form the spirit of Bangalore. These people work hard and play hard. They are from all over the country (and lately from all over the world) and it is great to see so many different people from different backgrounds working together.

I agree that the traffic has become a bit of a problem. The city has grown so fast and the infrastructure has not kept pace with it. 5 years ago when I went to Bangalore there were hardly any traffic problems and it was a lot smoother. But now I can?t seem to walk in peace. The public transport is the bus system, which has improved since I was there but still has a long way to go before it matches those of Mumbai or Delhi. A lot of flyovers are coming up which I hope should clear up at least some of the traffic.

The airport (which seems to be a major irritant to everyone) is HAL?s and is not of the standard which a city of Bangalore?s status should have. But a new airport has been commissioned (after ages of controversy) and is expected to be of world class standards as one of the best contractors are making it.

The place has the best people. Me being from north was never a problem there. They were very helpful in case on any problems. (Almost any one on the street will be polite to you and help you if you are polite too (very unlike Delhi or Mumbai)).

The pubs there. There are no better pubs anywhere else in the country. Here there is a culture of pubs. Almost everyone after work goes for their daily mug of beer to their favorite pub. (my favorite being Purple Haze and Pecos).

I am already tired of typing hence I will stop. But I seriously can go on forever. I seriously was in love with the place and resented the fact that people can dislike Bangalore so much that ?? well leave it.

Hope you find it informative. If I have erred in any information please comment and lemme know.
