Hi all, I must admit that I was a bit amused at some of the views presented here about the city of Bangalore. Bangalore , by the way happens to be where I was born , brought up , I did all my schooling and even my graduation too. So I have never been out of sync with the growth of the city over nearly 28 years. Over the many years I have witnessed many a change in the city's landscape. I have heard many people talk about the great climate of Bangalore , the IT savvy people , tech friendly citizens. I thought I should put in a few observations of my own , since I am Bangalorean my self. 1) Climate - It is not pleasant any more. When I was a kid , during summers the mercury never hit 32 C , but now the avrg temp in summer is 35 C . Even in the peak of winter , it is around 30C. Anyone can verify these numbers . If Indians outside bangalore say that the climate in bangalore is pleasant , it only shows what the climate is in their home town!!. 2) Hi-Tech city - Let's see.. Bangalore has less home PC penetration in the country than say Poona!!! That definitely does not make it a hi-tech city. Agreed there are an excessivley large number of IT companies ( hey I am a S/W Engg too ). but that is not a measure of the tech-savvyness of the general populace. 3) The traffic , the road conditions are just insane. Not to mention the pollution . Bangalore is infamous for having the one of HIGHEST number of child asthma patients in the world. 4) The many gardens have just vanished from the city's landscape over the years. 5) Frequent power cuts , terrible water supply system ( well these are probably nation wide problems ) Though I have not visited other cities in India , judging by the views of non-bangaloreans about Bangalore , I can only imagine the conditions of these other cities. Karu
