There is a lot that has been said before about Bangalore... so just thought of adding a few points of my own, for whatever they are worth... I have stayed in Bangalore for the last more than 8 years, recently moved to Delhi , ..... The day I landed in Bangalore in 1999 I was awed by the city with the peace it brought to your mind, with very warm people, very nice weather et al... But I guess, the place has completely changed to what it was not in the year 1999, I have seen the transformation first hand, in the city, in the people's mindset, in their behaviour, the traffic and of course, in the weather....
Well, I guess apart from the weather, a lot of the blame should go to the politicians who have not done enough for political reasons or pure incompetence, allowing the situation to go from bad to worse and now worse to worst.... I believe all the politicians could have brought legislations to ensure that the basic character of the city does not change - by not allowing malls to be built in the center of the city, by ensuring they control the prices of the property, by ensuring that they take steps to alleviate the problems of the people in Bangalore - instead they find it easier to blame the IT industry and the outsiders to spoil the city but they do not realize one thing, if they want companies to setup their offices in Bangalore then it is inevitable that outsiders will move to Bangalore.
At the end of the day, its all about earning money, whether it is the government, the company or the individuals. The law order situation has also become bad owing to the politics played by different parties and the callous attitude of the authorities. Corruption has increased manifold over the years.
If the government or the people think all the miseries in Bangalore are because of the IT boom, I guess they should take a tough decision to say "NO" to any IT company which wants to base its office there and move out the existing software companies out of Bangalore.... But as it is..... the people want to "Have the cake and eat it too".......
