Diwali Celebrations and Wonder La

Diwali Night

Friday was a holiday for most of the companies in Bangalore but a working day for us (Kalki). But nobody could stop us enjoying Diwali. We decided to celebrate the same with some drinks and gathered in a bar near forum at 9.00 pm. We were six (Me, Prinson, Nirmal, Vipin, Dhaneesh and Moon) and ordered various categories of alcohol like beer, wine and rum. Vipin (who joined in infosys one month back) explained his new experiences in Mysore Infy campus. We spend almost 3 hours there talking about our college life and other personnel matters in the back ground of Diwali crackers.

We left bar at 12.00 and decided to go to our project manager’s room. There our managers were really busy with completing their 1Ltr Brandy bottle. We spend almost 1 hour there sipping some pegs and pulling each other’s leg. We left from there at around 1.00 am after enjoying a nice time

Wonderla

The bike trip to Wonder La on Saturday was planned two - three days back. Wonder La is a nice water theme park built and maintained by V – Guard. It was constructed after the success of water theme park Vega land in Kochi. Wonder La is 28 km away from Bangalore and situated in Bangalore – Mysore road.

Participants

Bajaj Pulsar – Sterin, Prinson

TVS Victor – Nirmal, Dhaneesh Hero Honda Splendor – Vipin, Moon

Startup

We started from home on Saturday at 10.30 am and filled petrol and air in our bikes from a petrol pump on the way. Our Route was Madiwala – BTM Layout – Banargatta road – Mysore road – Wonder La. We had to suffer typical Bangalore city traffic jams till entering Mysore road. In Mysore road we were able to maintain a steady speed 60 km/hr and reached wonder la at 12. 00. We got into it after buying ticket for Rs. 540/-. We kept our belongings in their locker and changed our clothes for dry rides.

Dry Rides

There were a lot of thrilling as well as ordinary rides in Wonder La. We selected most thrilling ones first. I don’t remember their names but they were really breath taking. Some of them rotated us up side down; some rides surprised us with sudden vertical falls; others with random forward, backward and zig - zag motions. If you are planning to try those rides please give some time for your body to settle after one ride. Otherwise this may cause omitting problem.

We also tried ordinary rides like crazy cars, trains and all; also took some snaps. It was 2.00 pm when we finished almost all dry rides. So we decided to go for food before starting water rides. Food was available at normal rates from food malls inside.

Water Rides

We started water rides with splash which made all of us wet for the first time in Wonder La. After that we tried all water rides there including water pendulum, all types’ of twisters and sliders etc. In between we tried Cini - magic for a change. It is really good and a different experience for first timers. Later we enjoyed rain disco in which all boys and girls dance with high beat music. Giant wheel situated 80 meters height from which we can see entire campus and arrangement of Wonder La was another attraction. Wave pool was another place we spent some time.

After all these, we entered auditorium for musical fountain as well as Laser show. It was an amazing experience. Musical fountain was very well tuned to dance with musical beats of Rang – de Basanti and some other songs. Next was Laser show which was really great. It created nice drawings in the air accompanied with slow English melody. I was seeing Laser show for the first time; so enjoyed it up to maximum. After that there was only one item remaining – Lazy River. We were the last to swim in lazy river and took two rounds there.

We changed our clothes in the dressing room after hot shower. V – Guard really needs compliment for the facilities. They were providing drinking water for free. And the water and surroundings are very clean and hygienic. We had fish fry and chats from road side dhaba and started our return journey at 8.00 pm.

Hindi Movie - DON

On the way we noticed a theater in which the Hindi movie DON was released for Diwali. We bought the ticket from black market which costs Rs. 80/-. The original price for the ticket was only Rs. 40/- but it was far more economical than ticket prices in Bangalore multiplex theaters. The movie was really good with lots of twists and nice suspense at the end. We had our late night dinner from paramount hotel Koramangala to end our 2006 Diwali celebrations.
