This Tamil New year I took an important decision to sell my Discover 125CC and go for a two wheeler that will suit my requirements. I was using KB 100 from 1991 which was very very good except for the pick up. Impressed by its low maintenance I exchanged it for the Bajaj Discover in November 2004 as it had a self starter due to which I considered buying it as I has undergone surgery in my right knee to correct torn ligaments. My mind did not accept going in a scooter or a moped so I was happy to see a bike being introduced with a self starter. Pulling is excellent. The way it zooms is a real pleasure especially when you go ahead of all the other bikes that start along with you. Riding is superb, but only for long distances. For short distance riding where you need frequent gear changes the bike is horrible. The sound of gear change is very very horrible. The tyre comparing the size of the bike is very thin that when ever I apply brakes the back wheel skids. The height of the bike is another minus. It is really very high. It took 5 months for me to det adapted after changing to this bike. Friends, yes, it is really not suitable for me. Forgive me. Though it is a good bike I have to go for lower cc vehicles probably a scooter or moped as there is no self starter in 100 CC bikes , I do not know why. I read in surveys that in India guys don't accept self starters in a bike as it is a man thing. Now considering the 4 stroke engines and the quality of refined food we have our ligaments and muscles are not going to be as strong as our father's or Grand pa's. Another real fact is I could not enjoy riding the Discover which is meant only for long distance riding.
