After Heropanti, the Sabbir-Tiger duo is back again with Baaghi. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, this film revolves around a 23-year-old reckless rebel Ronny(Tiger Shroff) and his love interest Siya(Shraddha Kapoor), an aspiring actress.
Fearing his temperament, Ronny’s ailing father sends him to a disciplinary academy in Kerala. It is on his journey to the academy that he meets Siya. Things are hunky dory until Raghav(Sudheer Babu) begins to take an interest in Siya and kidnaps her after a failed attempt to win her over. And then things and bones begin to go crash-boom-bang!
With a run time of 140 minutes, the first half of the film lends itself to the growing love between Siya and Ronny, while the second half focuses on their struggle against Raghav’s love-turned-obsession.
Not only does the film have a narrative that is non-linear, the film relies on clichés that do not always seem to work. We find two men pining for the same girl and a hero who falls to only rise again. What seems to work, however, are the action-packed sequences executed brilliantly by Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor and Sudheer Babu.
Although, the film barely has anything new to offer and the plot is somewhere lost as the film transitions from one scene to another, the performances of the lead actors seem to make up for it. Another highlight of the film is undoubtedly its music, which help in facilitating an emotional immersion.
