Automatic Gear Vs Manual Gears

Indian road and traffic conditions demand emergency operations in gears which is possible only in manual gear changing. Auto gears take time to assess what you are doing and what the rpm of Engine and pressure on it are. By then things happen bad.

This is best suited for disciplined traffic, smooth surfaced long roads etc where sudden and frequent changing of gears are needed. Our roads are not uniformly smooth. When you drive at 100 km. per hour, for a few kilometers suddenly you may face a deep cut on road or a pot-hole or a bump. You apply brake, inflicting heavy change in speed. Such things are very rare elsewhere on the globe except India.

The unpopularity of Auto Transmission in India is only due this factor. Try a Kinetic Scooter and compare it with a Bajaj on this count. You will feel the difference.
