Story:

There are books and there are books... But very few are classics...

And there are classics... but believe me,... none can equal Atlas Shrugged...

If there is any piece of literature that can change the way you percieve the world, this is it.

The ideology of objectivism has explained been in the setting of a world which is coming to a standstill, a world whose motor has been stopped...

I will not reveal the plot because it would be criminal of me to do so, but I will outline the philosophy projected by in this classic.

Atlas Shrugged is the story of a murder, not of a man's body, but of his spirit. Its the story of one man who says he would stop the motor of the world, and how he succeeds in doing that.

Everyday, someone dies .... in spirit. People are pushed to the limits of helplessness.. to the brink of madness.... Everyday one sees people being taken advantage of..... being made to slog because he is superior in his ability to others... while others, of lesser ability feast on the superior being's spirit. Everyday henious crimes of such order take place. Is this not murder or what? Reducing a man to a state of insanity because he thinks... letting an achievement go unrewarded because someone of lesser ability felt some of his needs had to be fulfilled....

What does one do in such a world? What would you do had you been murdered this way everyday?

The human mind is motor of the world. If that motor is cursed everyday by sick vultures for its ability to perform, then one day would come wherein that motor would just stop.... The mind would no longer be available for the service of useless creatures that depend on it.

Would you give up on this world had you been murdered this way? Would your morals permit you to leave the world for destruction in this way?

Would your motor just stop for this world, and go in search of that Atlantis?

Or would you live for the world as long as there is some hope of saving it, no matter how much abuse you encounter in the process?

The book teaches us that all actions we perform are inherently a result of our thought process, that our thoughts, our love, our achievements are all a representation of our innermost set of virtues. That a being that denounces the mind really cannot do without it... that the human mind is the greatest wonder in the world.

The book has changed my life, the way I look at people, the way I look at life, the way I look at myself. It is most definitely a MUST READ!!!!
