I am using Asianet DataLine(ADL) from the past many years. The reason for taking ADL connection was that my dial-up bill started elevating. I wanted a connection which does not charge me for the hours I stay on the net. ADL was the one!

ADL connection was taken with an investment of around 5K for a cable modem + installation+deposit. I was on a prepaid plan giving me 500Mb of data for Rs. 1.5K with 3 months validity. It was enough for me as I never did any downloads and also I browsed the net without opening the images in the webpages. After some 2 or 3 months time the data was increased to 1.5GB. I was really happy since 1.5GB was like heaven for me at that time. But, as you thought, this internet is really an addiction. I started downloading. I noticed that my data limit began to expire in just 20days.I began recharging twice a month and hence the cost reached as much as dial up. There came the need for an unlimited connection.

Initially I thought of taking night unlimited for 550 per/month from ADL but hearing reviews from my friends of very very slow speeds(even lesser then dial up), I dropped the idea.

Now, I was left with just two choices: get a Reliance Mobile and take unlimited net at 144kbps for 1500 per/month or go for the 64kbps unlimited scheme from ADL for 880 per/month. I chose to stay with ADL thinking over loosing the money I had invested in the modem. Now after staying on this connection for more than 2 years, I have a mixed opinion of ADL. I must say I have got what they promised-a constant 60-64kbps speed all the time (even though some friends tell me it takes 10min to load a page on their connection!!). In the initial days there used to be a downtime of 1hr every 2 or 3 days. But even though late, they have doubled their speed recently. Now I get 128k unlimited for 880per/month. But here I noticed that the speed is not constant and varies a lot between 10KB and 17KB. But downtime had reduced to almost nil, of which I am very happy.

The most impressive part in ADL is their excellent Customer support. They will be available for your help at any time, be it late night or in the early morning, they answer your call in the first attempt which is a lacking feature in all other providers.

When compared with other Broadband providers(i should not call ADL a broadband as they does not have an unlimited 256k connection!!) like Airtel, ADL is far far behind. Where as Airtel offers 256k unlimited for 900 per/month, ADL gives only half the bandwidth for the same price. Another problem with ADL is that they never revise their prices. A price fixed way back is continued even now. They increased the speed to 128k as they found their loyal customers leaving them and shifted over to BSNL.

Now when it comes to recommending ADL to a friend, I will recommend only if he has no other option, Else Go for Airtel or even BSNL which are far better than ADL.
