A Review for ENT Surgeon Dr Sarika Verma. Review on Artemis Hospital - Gurgaon

I felt compelled to write this post because in a polluted city like Gurgaon I’m constantly recommending Dr Sarika to my friends so this post can perhaps save me some time repeating myself. I had a fantastic experience with this doctor for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I just never felt like she had an agenda. There was nothing casual about the way we would communicate. Everything was clear, but Dr Sarika never felt the need to pretend like she had to be your new best friend to do a good job. She was just quietly confident and someone who I imagine would be unlikely to feel she had to do the ‘hard sell’ personality wise to earn your trust. I mean, she could be painter or cyclist for all I know, or be related to a movie star, but to me, she was just an excellent physician and that’s all I cared about.

Unlike so many doctors who run on ego and patronize, Dr Sarika just struck that nice balance, and put my needs front and centre. She never wanted to do anything to make me feel like the consultation was about her. It was always about my needs. About me feeling safe. This is not a doctor who would name drop or suggest we chat on a first name basis like close friends – she just doesn’t need to rely on those sorts of gimmicks and that’s the professionalism you’re paying for. Secondly, her commitment to always keep me updated was second to none. I just always felt like I knew how Dr Sarika felt about the status of my health as soon as she did. I had FESS surgery last year, and it was really stressful. It was a vulnerable time, and I remember in the aftermath, I texted her for reassurance, and seemed stressed, and whereas other doctors would perhaps put you in a queue, or roll their eyes at you being not ‘chilled’ enough, or too ‘highly strung’, Dr Sarika was straight on the phone, not texting, but calling, and suggesting I visit that same day, so that she could reassure me personally, that everything was going to be okay with our therapeutic relationship, and most importantly with my health. And that’s the standard of care you can expect.

To run the risk of going overboard, this doctor is just a really kind hearted person. To her, anxiety around your health was natural thing, and not a ‘rant’. If you were happy after receiving her support, then 30 seconds later, suddenly felt concerned for future relapses, this is not a doctor that would make you feel like a stupid ‘yoyo’ for not always saying the perfect thing, or feel like something to be pushed out the door, with a sarcastic ‘have a great life'(i.e. ker-ching, ker-ching) trailing from her as you left. It just wouldn't happen. I think the thing I really valued about Dr Sarika is that at the end of the day she was genuine.

So many doctors failed to diagnose me correctly, and when I finally got the help I needed from Dr Sarika, she said that she ‘really appreciated’ my compliments, and that in return, made me feel heard, because too many doctors in India follow a medical model, where you’re just a disease, and not really given that extra level of more holistic care.  I really can't find enough adjectives. From the bottom of my heart, she saved my health, and for this I cannot give enough praise.
