''NOT AN OKKADU''. Review on Arjun - Telugu Movie

The name ''Gunashekar'' brings to my mind the wonderful film made by him with Mahesh Babu OKKADU It was a fantabulous movie I had watched in recent times. Dharni remade it in Tamil by the name GILLI and the frist scence made me decide that telugu version was degraded to a mass entertainer, where as Okkadu was A Class. I thought Gunashekar would repeat his potential with ARJUN but was disappointed of sorts.

STORY

The story line is very simple about a brother trying to save his twin sister from the evil hands of his in laws. How he does it is the whole movie about. The first half is gripping but the director seems to have lost his grip on the story. He could have done better for his calibre, maybe he lost interest.

TECHNICAL

The set of Madurai Meenakshi Temple set up by Thota Tharani is mind boggling, never seen in the recent years such sets. It is a treat for the eyes. The visual effects in the movie was not upto the mark. At certain places especially at the chase when logs fall from a truck, the whole sequence looked too artificial. Colour correction is imperfect as well as the wire removals in the fight sequences. It could have been avoided. The difference between Hollywood visual effects and Indian is very much visible. Perfection is not THE word in Indian Film Industry.

MUSIC

It is a great disappointment. The numbers are not catchy nor impressive. Very mediocre.

ARTISTS

Well Mahesh Babu has given a good performance. It was a tailor made role for him. Shriya did not have much to do, except sing with the hero. Keerthi Reddy as the twin sister has done a good job. Sarita, Prakash Raja duo were excellent, I am sure very many in the audience would have dreamt them threatening them in their dreams. They were excellent. It was totally the brother and sister movie.

The unique thing of the movie is that the name ARJUN is never mentioned till the end.
